The team we had back then could have gone all the way to the old Division 1. And they should definitely have gone up in 79/80. They fell to pieces after we were knocked out of both cups and lost a crucial top of the table, televised game, against Sheffield Wednesday all in the space of a couple of weeks. They hardly won a game from then on until the end of the season (although there were a couple of memorable ones - Rotherham, 6-2 when Andy Rowland got 4 goals and Gillingham, 3-0, and a young, permed, Steve Bruce got red-carded . They couldn't win away from home though. It was the away form that screwed us up, the draw in the game away at Oxford when we drew preceeded a run of 10 consecutive defeats on the road.

Blimey. Skiing is definitely silly. Fun. But silly.

Seeing as Clems recruitment policy is to check who used to work here, it'll be a return of Marcus Cassidy.

It's in the first post and up to date. Sam's Moonraker list is missing Dylan Mitchell but otherwise very helpful. It's not a bad situation at all, basically everyone who has another year you'd be happy to keep, and only a handful of those out of contract I'd be gutted to lose. Whatever else he got wrong, Jamie Russell got the contract lengths right.

Regardless of who he is and why he's at the club at all, giving any 18 year old a 1 year deal just seems silly.

Yep. It’s exactly the same as was given to Redman Evans & Jaxon Brown etc

Keep Cain? based on what exactly? he'll of been here 2.5 years soon and hasn't even played 50 games. He has a decent left foot but unless you are converting him to a left back, he isn't physical enough to play in midfield and not good enough to be a #10.

Keep (from most important to least):
Ripley Oforborh Cox Drinan
Im in too minds over Glaztz. In my heart i want to keep him but he's been so disappointing this season. I guess he's decent as squad depth though

Jury still out on Drinan for me, yes he has shown glimpses in his recent games where he has looked pretty good but in the main he is a bang average L2 striker and not really done enough to earn a contract IMO.
Jury also out on McGurk, yes he has tons of skill but putting that into action regularly seems to be the issue.
Ripley is a must keep as is Ofoborh, Cox is hit and miss as is Glatzel who at times looks great but others looks a passenger.
I would 100% let Cain go, theres better out there for free I am sure in a similar role.
