Put a decent right back behind him and he could be worth it. If he has no defensive duties hes probably worth a gamble. 2 mill for a prem club is small beer

Pulis would probably make him more direct and get him delivering a lot more quality balls into the box I suspect. These sell ons are pain in the perverbial though aren't they?* *I realise that's the only way we could get the players in the first place but still

No doubt we'd bang our own sell on clause in to make up for it.

I think Power will do his utmost but if Town managed to get £1,000,000 for a player with one year left and after Spurs get their % then he should he get the freedom of the Town... or something like that.

Without doubt (in response to both of the above points). I have to say, I'm not even remotely close to panicing and it's not even June and Cooper has said they would be getting their business done early this year (ironically, part of that business could be him leaving) However, it's going to be nice to be able to discuss some incoming players at some point

Its not about getting incoming players. That will happen. Its about getting the right incoming players, something which we'll only know for sure come Christmas

We won't even know that at Christmas.....having to do such a fundamental rebuild, I make it we may have 4 or perhaps 5 players we're familiar with, is largely unprecedented. Perhaps the only similar season is 05/06, when Kingy had to try and rebuild after the sale of SSP.....we got relegated. The immediate target has to be 52 points, with the hope of pushing on the following season. Our model does suggest a 2 season pattern.

Isn't that kind of stating the obvious?

We'll know if we've got a competitive team by Christmas Reg. We may be able to bolster what we have in January too. But we'll know if its gone spectacularly wrong/right by then.

yes.
Let me expand on that, I'm expecting us to sign nearly all youth from non-league/reserve teams. What are we going to discuss, CM stats and youtube clips? Seen too many "next big things" be crap to get excited early on (Slabber, Nouble). Its not like when Reg's example of the Kingy era arrived. I thought Thorpe/Cureton were going to be immense (based on actual FL experience)! BTW Cureton gets a lot of stick on here, but Thorpe was a far far bigger let down/lame donkey.

You're not factoring in that we should have a nucleus of players bigger than last season, better as well and most importantly a track record of playing in a style that has some top clubs ringing us up to offer players to develop on loan or buy at a snip to do the same and sell on.

The focus was on SSP replacement, but we'd lost a lot of other players who'd done OK for us....the likes of Heywood, Grunt Sniff, Igoe, Duke, Hewlett, Howard, Gurney. The loans like Colin Heath and Patrick Collins, just weren't up to it, the Prem cast offs, like Charlie Comyn Platt and Ricky Shakes, similarly limited. It goes to show it's not easy.....
