1 Game. Another Clem sick note signing…

Think even that was just sub appearance so probably only about 20 minutes.

Hasn’t been announced but it seems Obodo is on loan at Highworth Town.

Time to get Drinan on a new deal if it expires in the summer.

I’d agree, but he is one (like Luke Norris) that divides opinion, there were a fair number of Town fans who wanted rid of him earlier this season

To be fair, pre Holloway, a lot of folk would have been glad to see the back of 75% of this squad

Yup. I didn't think they were capable ,though to be fair to some fans they did say we were better than we were showing.

Starting to think about looking towards next season (we're going to be in league 2 barring something crazy) and given the last 3 seasons of churn, we go into next season with a real opportunity to build some kind of continuity. First up, I think given the performance of the team, signing Holloway up for next season is crucial. Wary of course that Flynn was rewarded with a long term deal and was subsequently sacked not long after, but if Holloway is properly backed (hoho) league 2 is not a quality league and he appears to have that ability to get the best out of his players.

And so onto the players.

GK - this requires work. Ripley is an unknown so he's currently on a 3 month trial so could become our number 1 for next season.

Defenders - Wright and Delaney look a solid CB pairing and you've got Minturn as well. Sobowale on the right and Kirkman, Mcgregor on the left I'd look to keep. I personally don't rate Cox that highly but could be a handy squad option.

Midfield - Ofoborh, Kilkenny and Clarke look to be the bulk of our CM offerings. Butterworth as a wild card option off the bench is a decent option. I'd probably keep Cain as he is a useful option from the bench and still young so can improve although I'd understand if he is looking to leave for first team football elsewhere.

Up front - build around Harry Smith I'd say. Drinan has earned another contract in my eyes and I think Tom Nichols is worth a year. He's a clever player and once the team click with him, I reckon he'll become really useful. A month ago I'd have driven Glatzel anywhere away from Swindon but he seems to be enjoying a new lease of life. Is he playing for a new contract? I'm in 2 minds whether to keep or not.

Of the loanees, McGurk is the quandary. I love his maverick style but I sense he isn't going to work under Holloway. Then you've got the handful of talented youngsters who are a year older, stronger and better.

We'll see what the summer brings. We've had to start again last few years.

Absolutely. The absolute #1 good thing this year is that essentially all the dead wood is out of contract at the end of the season, there's nobody contracted beyond this year who is completely useless. We should at least be able to spend the entire budget on players the manager actually wants, which is a good starting point.

The turnaround of players at this level is huge, its not just us but pretty much every team (barring the really rich ones) who change 75%+ of players each season.

If we could keep 90% of this team we would be onto a good thing as the players will know each others strengths and weaknesses already and how they affect the dressing room.

But, players themselves are often more ambitious than being at a mid table L2 club that when some L1 giant like Exeter, Stevenage, Northampton, Cambridge or Burton come along the pull is often too much for them to resist and they move to the higher division. Which is understadable in the fairly transient and often short lived league career of the lower league footballer.

Makes me sick how far we've fallen reading things like that.
