Nice to hear Holloway has found a bit of money down the back of the sofa for a couple of players

The 2 incomings must be a loan and a permanent, we have 5 loans already but with Freckeles not playing that gives us 1 spare in the squad, and I'm sure Holloway would not bring a player in to leave him out of the squad.

Although with Cotterill potentially returning to Swansea, that may free up a loan so it depends if it is dependent or if that just gives Holloway another space to fill

There is no money, we were at max. It'll be freed up by outgoings somewhere.

If one of the incomings is indeed an experienced keeper they'd be a straight swap for Barden if a loan.

Seems like Cambridge UTD are having the same issue as we are with Freckleton.

We now have a 33 man squad. Massive numbers at this level. I know that includes loans & those who are also out on loan, but that's still going to result in some serious turnover through the summer.

How many under contract for next year? It would be good for Holloway to be here next year, he's worked out what is good in the squad and what is needed, we'd actually build for next season.

From the first post

Contract Expiries
2025: Bycroft, Johnson, Khan, Cain, Uwakwe, Dworzak, Glatzel, Drinan, Cox, Ripley
2026: Sobowale, Clarke, Brown, Kilkenny, Butterworth
2027: Minturn
Unknown: Wright, Hart, Hall, McGregor, Delaney, Mitchell, McGurk, Ofoborh, H Smith

The unknowns were never announced, but I'm reasonably sure that most have another year.

Of the 2025 renewals, I'd be surprised if there were more than a few renewals in there.

The 33 is accurate but includes Dworzak, Hart, Brown, Evans, Mitchell and six loanees.

I'd keep Bycroft as a backup keeper and offer contracts to Glatzel and Drinan. Let's see how good Ripley is too.

I saw that Sam had said in an article we had 11 players that were contracted beyond the end of the season

I would agree on that, Drinan I think is playing for his future, but probably needs to put in a few more performances like he did at Carlisle to earn an extention, great effort but often not the best quality.

I hope he can keep that up again on Saturday thought, hes a good pro.

I see Freckleton has returned to training with us.

If you can go into the summer with a squad of:

GK
Ripley (if good)
Bycroft
Evans

DF
Sobowale
Wright
McGregor
Delaney
Minturn
Kirkman (who I realise is missing from my list)
Maybe Cox depending on fitness

MF
Clarke
Kilkenny
Butterworth
Brown
Ofoborh

FW
Smith
Maybe Glatzel/Drinan depending on form

You don't have huge gaps to fill there, and crucially next to no dead wood. Of course, it doesn't really work that way!

You'd imagine Ameen, McCormick and Chard at least are heading towards pro deals.

I’d say it’s time Minturn was moved on.

He isn’t good enough and I don’t think he’s ever going to be unfortunately.
