There's a lot McGurk doesn't do off the ball, but he's capable of moments of magic with it. In my view, he's a better version of Danny Butterworth. Multiple managers have now disagreed.

Fair enough. There's plenty of our players who do nothing ON the ball as well. So I'd like to think we can strike a balance somewhere.

Any idea what position he actually plays for Yeovil? and what his role is? is he a winger or a #10?

Clearly a succession of managers don't agree.

Butterworth has scored a couple of worldies this season, and most on here want him dropped, and he works harder defensively than McGurk who without the ball plays like he thinks he's Messi

Yes McGurk scored a great individual goal v ebbsfleet BUT his team only managed a draw and he was subbed. I don’t think they’ve actually won a match yet with him in the team. Having said that I hope he proves his worth…

I can't remember which game it was, but it was since Holloway has been here, but after coming on as a sub he lost the ball & basically strolled back as if it wasn't his job to try & get back and defend.

I'd imagine it's the kind of think that would infuriate a manager, especially Holloway.

If he does the same kind of thing in training, that might of explain his lack of playing time.

The farther down the level you play, it's easier to get away with as his talent level will outweigh the perceived lack of effort.

I think McGurk lacks the physicality needed in L2 - there were several games last season (Doncaster at home being one) where he was muscled off the ball far too easily. He is clearly a talented player, but at times he’s looked like a boy playing men’s football because of that.
I think his attitude when he loses the ball (commented on by others) also plays into that perception - the contrast with McGregor (similar size and build) is huge - McGregor’s commitment and energy to win the ball is obvious.

It was the Morecambe game and he gave it away for the Hallam Hope winner.

I don't think McGurk fits the grind out the results approach Holloway wants and needs at the moment.

If we can put points on the board and get to relative safety then he could be brought back from loan. Not sure we are in Scott Twine on loan at Newport territory yet.

It is not about that, we are trying to do other things and it is whether they are movable. I would send Miguel back but unless they can loan him somewhere else they aren’t going to do that and he is injured. I have spoken to him and they won’t let him come back unless he gets another loan. He will be fit in another week or so.

There has to be a three-party agreement. When you do a season-long loan, there is a break in the middle in this window. If the player, the borrowing club, and the lending club all agree then it can happen. There is a caveat that if they can’t loan him out then they don’t have to bring him back.

I think that as usual, as the borrowing club, we have the shitty end of the stick.

Kemp and Young- clubs want him, we're having him back.

Freckleton- with nowhere else wanting to play him, we have to keep him.

The borrowing club having to agree to a loan player being recalled is utter horse shit. In addition to the aforementioned Kemp & Young - they are other examples like Doyle & Yates for us. Simpson. KKH. Not us but no way Stockport have willing agreed to let Louie Barry go back…
