I'm sure it's probably normal, but Connor Ripley is in the section where players are being offered new terms, and all these, apart from Ripley are existing permanent players. Ripley was a loan player and I don't believe Port Vale have released their list yet.
It may well be that part of the loan agreement was we could take up the contract at the end of the season, so I'm sure it's absolutely fine, just something I noticed.

Notice Tom Nichols was released by Mansfield. Anyone think we would offer him a contract? I quite liked him and thought he played a Dan kemp kind of role ok.

Port Vale released him. He played enough games for a promotion medal though (I’d be intrigued to know if he was allocated one) [if they do 2nd place promotion medals]

I knew I'd get the details wrong, apologies for that and thanks for keeping awake whilst I slept through the end of the season!

I think so. I think Nichols was a really clever player. Would be a really useful signing in my opinion.

Nichols was decent.
Clearly not a goal scoring striker & much more a link up / #10. We could do a lot worse than him for that role but also think we could potentially do a bit better too. Just as a comparison to ex players I wouldn’t be picking Nichols ahead of Jack Payne or Dan Kemp - but - it’s also about being realistic with the budget & stretching it across the squad.
I’d rather go for Nichols & have left over wages to add else where than put all our eggs in one #10 basket so to speak.

Yeah I think there could be a really good player in Nicholls. Shown bits of it in spells.

40 games, 10 goals and 4 assists not a bad return for a mid table side. Won Player’s player of the year.

Nichols is in the twilight of his career (31 now, 32 next season), you'd expect that what he delivers now is what you get.

Player of the season at Stevenage and top scorer. I wouldn't mind signing Nichols but Kemp is not a fair comparison.

11 goals in 48 across all competitions for Dan Kemp - seems reasonable.
A lot better than Jake Young who across all competitions has managed 4 goals in 33 appearances. That used to be a weeks work (if that!) when he was here…
He’s to date scored roughly 45% of his career goals in 17% of career games whilst he was here.

Even at the time i wondered if it was just a lightning in a bottle moment for Jake Young. Im not sure he'll ever produce those sort of numbers again, but i'd still happily have him back! Could play quite nicely off Smith...
