The problem with Williams - and this is true of several others in our squad - is that his past injury record / consequent lack of fitness means he is really only good for an hour if he starts (he often looks better and has more influence on the game coming on as an impact sub) and he certainly can’t play all 3 in a Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday sequence.
Having several players like this impacts on team selection as these players’ game time is having to be managed.
This has been the case all season for Williams and Gladwin, at other times / in some measure for players returning from injury - Barry, Baudry, Lyden, - or players signed in January (or later) with little game time in the first part of the season - Egbo, Barry again, Davison, Tomlinson, O’Brien and Cooper.
With a proper pre season and hopefully lifting of the embargo we should have a squad where we have most players capable of lasting 90 mins and playing 3 games when we have that issue.
