People still use cash on holiday??? Madness.

I thought similar. Revolut has taken all that hassle out of those kind of things.

When I was in Bavaria back in November almost everywhere was cash only. Talk about a culture shock after how used I've become to using my phone for pretty much everything.

When we went on holiday to Bulgaria many many moons ago, my dad used to change money with random guys on the beach. The Pound and cash in general was king back then. I do get the need for cash in some places.

My sister went there in the late 80s when still pretty much a solid communist country, everyone bought stuff and sold things to foreigners in US Dollars, she was offered $100 for her jeans which were about 5 years old Levis and at the time worth about £20. The local currency was pretty much worthless.

Yes need for cash very much depends on where you're going.
Went to Estonia & Finland last year and didn't spend a cent in cash then later was really surprised to see how much was cash only in Japan.

Yeah when we did a trip to Croatia I remember how impressed by Dubrovnik and Split. Amazing seafood and wine there at a really good price.

Interestingly, while my personal tech expert is loading our boarding passes to wallet 😉 spoke via FaceTime last night to our friends in SA about the PO saga. They don’t worry about the cash if it doesn’t come in time. Bring what you can in Sterling and we’ll take to to a place. Not a bank, a shop, not sure what it sell, but you go out back through a curtain and see ‘someone’. They give you Rand at a better rate than either any bank or bureau de change and the U.K. by a full cent….😳 Just goes to show where corruption is on an industrial scale as is SA, cash is definitely king.

We’ll if the PO comes good later this morning.
