Very sad news and condolences to all involved. Sadly I remember the terrible accident along Akers Way many years ago when a young lad was killed by a speeding driver.

I had to drive past today. so very sad to see the flowers and the teenagers gathered there. And then a younger girl with her mum carrying some flowers walking up the road.

Live in the area, have a son the same age. brought a year to the eye to be honest.

Horrible news. I don’t understand how someone could get enough speed up to kill at that time of morning

you don't need to be going fast. A banged head, etc.

I get normally it's slow moving traffic in rush hour, been stuck in it enough.

Next step 20mph.

That woman is going down. Death by dangerous driving. Leaving the scene of an accident, possibly speeding and possibly under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.

Failing to stop is a difficult one to understand, but also I don't understand shock well enough.

Anything between that and what you said is possible but we don't actually know anything other than the tragic aftermath.

20 mph is a token gesture and a total and utter waste of time unless its enforced which it won't be as plod don't have the man power, most of the residential streets of Lancaster have been 20mph for about 6-7 years and I am not aware of anyone who has been prosecuted.

Ultimately until it all comes out who knows if she is going down, I know too many stories of cyclists including friends who have been killed in similar ways and a pathetically short driving ban been the outcome.

It works in Bristol as they use cameras and surveillance. Bring them back!!

Utterly horrible for the boy and his family left behind. The justice system needs to serve its purpose...

Around 2/3 years ago closing the road from Sparcells to Purton approx 800 yards for no apparent reason other than to divert traffic through Ridgeway Farm which passes a school and comes out the other side by Peatmoor.
