Michael Alexis, playing his first game since suffering a horrific injury in January 2008 was the toast of the city after firing home the winner as City celebrated a rare triumph over Blue Square Premier neighbours Oxford United.

Over 1500 fans packed a sun drenched (but soon to be rain soaked) Court Place Farm for the annual fixture between the two Oxford clubs and it was City who started brightly when a defensive mixup let in Craig Faulconbridge who saw his effort from distance saved by United ever-present goalkeeper Billy Turley, City had further chances and a stray backpass let in Mark Bell who fired just wide, at the other end United took the lead when new arrival from Histon Jack Midson finished well, just before half time an over-zealous challenge from Andy Baird on James Constable forced the referee to produce a yellow card.

The second half saw many changes, a whole new lineup for United and many City changes including debuts for Lee Steele,Andy Caton And Michael Alexis.

City drew level when a fine freekick from Mark Bell was met by the unmarked head of sub Andy Gunn, and 10 minutes later Michael Alexis scored the winner when he drove home from 20 yards after making space for himself.

Late in the game saw a substitute appearance from one of the most well liked and respected City players in recent memory, when Mark 'Jonah' Jones , back at City in a coaching role took to the field

United had several half chances and threatened to draw level with Matt Green out to impress on his return in a yellow shirt, but it wasn't to be for Chris Wilder's men.

I honestly thought Andy Caton would be the next big thing, Wise really rated the guy, was quoted once saying that he didnt know how he was going to keep hold of him once the scouts come calling!
