I can't get the love in for power of the dog or Benedict cumberbatch. I thought the other 3 main actors were better. Jessie plemons is a very underrated actor.

Finally our new cinema is opening on Friday. I've booked up to see Belfast on Saturday night. Bonus being that it's fully licensed so we will be able to enjoy a glass of wine or 2 during the film.

Talking of Branagh, Death on the Nile was verging on self indulgent nonsense and an hour too long (it's a murder mystery in which the murder happens 70 minutes in) but was a fun ride all the same. The moustache origin story prologue (I am not joking) was particularly silly. Haven't seen Belfast but suspect it might be a superior effort!

Long way behind the times but watched the second Kingsman film the other night which was pretty good.

Also watched Broken Arrow for the 400th time over the weekend, got to thinking you don't seem to be able to watch Top Gun anywhere and its never on the telly, any ideas why?

That's probably why it's not on - fleece a few quid out of people that want to watch it ahead of the release of Maverick. It has been available on Sky numerous times over the past year, especially when they did their Tom Cruise special.

TBF I agree with NMH I just dont get Cruise as an actor, very over rated IMO.

Another over rated actor is Nicholas Cage, don't get me wrong I love his films but he only plays Nicholas Cage, he can't act.

It was the 80's - if you were watching it for the acting then you missed a trick.  80's movies are all about enjoying them for what they were.

I like Tom Cruise, but I don't like watching him for his acting skills, I like watching him because he makes good movies..

A few good men is my personal favourite - love that film.  But these are very good as well.  Obviously some stinkers in his locker, but on the whole I enjoy a Tom Cruise film, just don't take them too seriously and enjoy them for what they are.
