Bank of Dave on Netflix is a decent feel good film.

Yeah we watched that last weekend. I agree with you, a feel good film to raise a smile.

After watching Swindon lose and then England lose the Calcutta Cup decided to cheer myself up and watch all quiet on the Western Front. I thought it was absolutely superb.

Given the completely different genre of films i'd be amazed if it was one of the actors. I assume he/she was an extra in both?

The answer is a bottle of Benedictine 🙂

For any fans of Korean cinema, Mother on ITVx is pretty good. Weird, funny, a bit sad, some decent twists.

I have had some peripheral involvement with Dave Fishwick in the past, he is crazy! Its a great story and the film is pretty good, but there is (entirely understandably) a huge amount of artistic licence associated with it.

Quite, not really due to the genre but more location. AQOTWF was filmed mostly in Prague with a predominantly European (mainland) cast and a good chunk of BoD was shot in Yorkshire.

Possibly a walk-on or featured role in both. I'll have to ask them.

I personally don't think AQOTWF is that great an adaptation. Good film - poor adaptation. I can still appreciate both flips of the coin in this respect. If it wasn't an adaptation from a German classic then without a doubt it's a superb picture but it is and adaptation and I feel it failed in key parts to adapt in the right moments.

Interesting reading here in that regard - German critics haven't taken to it as well as the RoW critics have.

Quite enjoyed it, even though the plot was straightforward I had to Google for it's deeper meaning

Apologies for repeating myself but Banshees of Inisherin was partly filmed in Achill Island, which is where Mrs Bob is from. Her and the in-laws didn't really enjoy the film but they obviously appreciated the scenery. Initially when I came out of the cinema I thought it was bizarre but having been to Achill Island a lot, it is a place where you could actually believe what happened in the film could take place, even now. I've seen it myself where her family members literally have fuck all else to do apart from go and get wasted in the pub. Amazingly stunning but bleak part of the world though.

No, that’s on the mainland near kilnaboy, that’s where my mother in law’s family live.

We visited last time I was over

Can see why many are unsure, but I’ve just watched the new Luther film and loved every second of it.
