I watched Free Guy, the ending is pretty obvious but I did enjoy Ryan Reynolds performance. Very easy watching with a few decent laughs.

Yes, impossible to discuss without spoilers, but I enjoyed it. If you've liked the Craig era, it's a fitting closure of his tenure, if you didn't like Casino Royal/Skiffle/ 1/2 of Spectre you likely will struggle with it.

I am watching it on Saturday and will try to watch Spectre again before then..

Watched it at the Waterloo IMAX in London the other week. Fucking disaster for me. Need to watch it again.

Watched Spectre again last night, right in the mood for the new one tomorrow now.  They have got a big decision to make as to who the new Bond will be, I think Daniel Craig does a great job.

I reckon it will be Rege-John Page - the dude from Bridgerton

I think they are stuck between a rock and a hard place on who to go for next - if they choose a man there will be those having a pop for not choosing a woman, if it's either but white that will be knocked and if they go for a black woman for the main role there will be uproar.

I wonder if they could retire the 007 and have a branch off for the next one dipping into various other 00's?  Gives the opportunity to test all the waters and continue the existing story arc.  Ana de Armas' cameo was great fun for example, I know she was CIA but it shows it could be done.  Usually the next Bond is pretty much a full reset.

aside: How do people think of James Bond?

A different actor playing the same person.

Or that the name and 007 are a 'legend' used by several agents over time as their alias.

The latter doesn't really make sense I suppose given it would be pretty bloody obvious to every evil corporation and villain. Then again, they all seem to know who and what Bond is anyway.

Broccoli has already come out and said it won't be a woman - James Bond is a male character and will stay that way, however they have introduced a strong black female character as another agent in the new film, so I think it's more likely that Bond will stay male and they will perhaps have a spin off that focuses on the female agent.

It's no different to Lara Croft or Wonder woman being traditional female roles, they should never look at changing them to male characters so it makes no sense to change Bond - just because a character is historically one sex doesn't mean everytime that it has to change just to fit the current narative.  Introducing other characters to the world, changing their race or even sexuality is something that they can and will no doubt look at though.

It seems improbable that there would be another James Bond in the current run without that being an origin story.  I'm talking about continuing the story not James Bond - I don't think they use his name in the current film titles, so you could move the story in a new direction with James Bond being forever in the background (like the picture of the previous M in the office at MI6).

I certainly do not think you can have James Bond as Jamie.

That has legs and fits into a possible scenario my wife put forward. If you’ve watched it then I am happy to explain. Wouldn't be fair to spoil it on the open forum.

I have no problem with a female Bond. It's all made up and isn't a documentary.
