If you have the budget, the Old Town area, if not a business district just outside is not a bad option as it is an easy city to get about in - it's not too big.  There is an old dried up river, with the Aquarium at one end, it serves to circle the old town area and we stayed just outside it, then walked inside it serves as a parkland now.

Thanks RobT will take a look over the next week or so and see what’s occurring.

If you walk the park, the Mestalla is just off of that as well.  The aquarium is called Oceanografic - impressive to go and look even if you don't want to go in.  Like something from an Avengers/Dc Comics film.

Visiting Valencia when Las Fallas takes place in March is a bucket list item.
Have to book accommodation a long way in advance though.

Is that something to do with oranges?

Just got back from watching Swindon Supermarine play Salisbury and got to say thoroughly enjoyed it far more than many of the Town games this season. Supermarine kept the ball down and tried to play whereas Salisbury were a get it forward type of team (where have I seen that before?) under the guidance of Steve Claridge, so no wonder.

Ended up in a draw 2-2 which was probably a fair reflection of the play although the not very good young ref. bottled a major decision for Supermarine as the 'keeper took out their centre forward in the box and nothing given.

As I said, enjoyable, quite good to watch with beer in hand and cheap to get in.

Festival of Fire.

The one where they chuck tomatoes at each other is nearby I think. Looks like good fun.

Wouldn't be too keen on the bull run in Pamplona though, too easy to spill the cerveza.

Well done Accrington. A great achievement. I hope when they turn up at the CG our fans applaud them. We might then see what a team looks like.

I love the contempt in which the Spanish hold "health and safety"

Not that they never plan.  There are a plethora of burning giant figures in numerous squares throughout Valencia during las fallas.  And they have a budget for replacing the melted blinds of the residences affected.

90 minutes to some basic ski-ing, beaches, culture and paella - love seeing the young kids eating out in restaurants at 9 or ten in the evening.

Yeah it's great isn't it.
Eating later in the evening doesn't seem to do them any harm.

Probably the only country I'd consider retiring to.

My oldest chum lives in Valencia, not that he retired there he still works, but when the festivals are on, he heads for the hills, as there's no chance of sleep.
