7% is probably on the high side. I'm assuming it's a gross/nominal return. Long term real/inflation adjusted average returns are around 5% per year so it's not far off. But if you look over the last 20 years it's probably nearer 3.5%.
My point was more that the maths checks out.

Using the brilliant match tracker over at Swindon-town-fc.co.uk to realise that Chesterfield on Saturday was my 700th live Town (competitive) game. My win rate is 52% which isn't too bad considering how terrible we've been in recent years.

That sounds good Tails. I went on to have a look but seems you have to be registered already. Any ideas?

I looked at that some years back and decided I had no way of knowing or recalling how many games I've been to, other than a lot. I looked after, a mate who's a bit OCD told me of his number. But he's the sort who notes down this shit and always buys a program. I wonder if Tails is similar

Just have to accept that horse has bolted.

I registered for that site years ago and went back through old games I'd been to (with some help from a parent who also attended). If I wasn't sure I just didn't check it - so its 700 games I'm SURE I've been to

There's a groundhopper app my mate keeps trying to get me to sign up which does a similar job too (but sorts stats by grounds etc i think). I might get around to it one day.

I did state you'd need a compound of around 7.5 or 8% to achieve those returns but my issue was sourcing an account that paid at that rate. As you say, 3.4/3.5/3.6% is probably closer to reality. Wasn't questioning the maths per se, just the interest percentage.

Finally deleted and destroyed my football manager 2006 install and backups. It’s sad, but quite liberating.
It feels a bit like when I went to the trouble of irrecoverably deleting my Facebook account. I’m finally free of the shackles of a time sink.

How did you do that? Fake email address and unknowable password?

Exactly. Got fed up of deleting it and accidentally logging in out of habit and making it live again. Just did as below: - String of random characters in notepad for passwords
- Set up new email in yahoo and use that string as password
- Updated Facebook email to yahoo and removed old email/s
- Updated Facebook password to the random string as used for yahoo
- Jump through hoops to delete Facebook
- Log out of everything, clear clipboard and close notepad
- No more Facebook
