While on our way to the away game at Notts County the Friday before Christmas years ago (the one where King was reappointed after the Essex crew were ousted by Diamandis, Holt et al), myself and a mate managed to get lost in the Nottingham one way system and could not seem to get any closer to Meadow Lane, but kept coming across signs for the Nottingham Lace Museum, which has kind of piqued my curiosity ever since. That night is also the coldest I can remember my left knee ever being. Two true stories!

Fitting in a trip to a museum, art gallery or other site of interest, prior to an away game, is always worth doing if possible.

My most recent, was the excitement of Burton away,.... Marmite/Bovril factory, and Branston home of pickle on the way back.

Little did I think at the time that the savoury toast spread would come to symbolise our post Brexit economic decline.

Nottingham Industrial Museum in Wollaton Hall is worth a look, load of lace stuff in there, quite fascinating.

I know that feeling.

Back in the PdC Div 4 season, hunted down the Hotel Gleneagles in Torquay, which was the the inspiration for Fawlty Towers. Have to admit to disappointment, that it wasn't where the outside was shot, which was a country club in Buckinghamshire which burnt down in 91.

Yep. Trentham Gardens, but only if coupled with a trip to the Britannia or Vale Park.

Put a few Stokies in there and nobody would notice the difference.

When last in the Potteries, couple of years ago, I chanced upon the Spode Works.

The 2008 banker's crash did for it, and a group are trying to develop a museum as well as supporting contemporary arty potters.  I wanted to look at the arty stuff, and discovered the history stuff.  Smiley

To tie in a museumfest with an away trip then it's the other STFC coupled with the Industrial Revolution stuff in Telford area of Ironbridge / Coalbrookdale etc.
At least 9 museums worth a visit in the area if interested in that era of history.
Probably best to allow a week to visit all of them though.

Are you trying to say they misspelt the band name WANKRS?
