Perfection is not attainable

I think I have mellow a bit as I get older and try to be a bit more tolerant of the fuckwits on the road. People make mistakes and I've always been quick to beep or flash or make hand gestures. Now I think that if they make a mistake and acknowledge that they have or if they are in the wrong lane but show their intent by indicating I'm happy to let it pass.

Agreed.

I've just always assumed that the lights on that road are timed rather than run by sensors like most traffic lights.

Yeah not heard of this before on traffic lights.

Interestingly, a lot of people from countries that do insist on the use of dipped headlights during daytime find our practice of not using them odd, and even dangerous.  When I was in Sweden recently, I found it irritating.  I think the thinking there is that at northern latitudes, daylight hours in winter are very short and night/dusk falls very gradually pretty much all year round.

Then they're a bit stupid.  If I've got shades on (because it's sunny, not because I want to be Bono), you don't need your lights on.  I also hate those brighter lights (xenon?), pointless and blind the car in front.

Yes, but as previously noted you can't turn them off.

Bath rag trying to raise money for a homeless charity (which is fair enough) by spending a night out on the streets.

Their take of a night on the streets includes freshly laundered sleeping bags, fresh crisp cardboard boxes, plenty of hot refreshments, the use of a 24 hour (heated) library and A CINEMA SCREEN.

However well intentioned it is, I can't be the only one who finds it incredibly patronising to homeless people? We don't have sponsored 'live in a slum' days to raise money for children in need. The NSPCC doesn't raise money by encouraging people to smack a kid.

Grrrrrrr I dislike a lot of things about this university

To back up my point about how out of touch with the world people at this uni are, I saw a leaflet giving people tips on how to live a greener lifestyle. One of them, and I am not making this up, said:

- "Need to get somewhere? Don't take the private jet, and go first class instead"

Cheesy

I've recently started asking about my course mates school backgrounds. So far I've found one (1) other person who did not go to either a grammar school (roughly 30%) or a private school (almost 70%). If I mention that I'm from Swindon I generally get a look like I've told them I was abused as a child.

It's enough to make me man the barricades.

I like to pretend that it's called "twiglets". Finding love when you're a marmite flavoured snack can be hard.

I've got a feeling that casting packets of twiglets in the main roles might have led to an improvement in the acting.

Bet she ends up getting it done.

Me and the mrs had to pay for our IVF treatment due to a cunting postcode lottery, never had to use the NHS before and the one time we want to use it we cant.

So yes i am a bit bitter.
