Dion Donohue in talks with Burton
I thought he wanted to be up north and closer to home, granted the midlands is more northern than Swindon.

Burton's no distance from the Northwest.

It’s North of Watford hence Northern Bastard outpost 😀.

I wonder if we need loan signings to be recalled by their parent club so as not to incur a penalty as they was all signed as season long loans, and so far it has been announced those that have left have been 'recalled' rather than a mutual termination of the loan.

If you use Chester as a North West/North Wales starting point then Chester to Burton is under 70 miles, Chester to Swindon is a little more than double that. Still a fair way from his home and would have expected a club closer to him to be more sense, but he has been a naughty boy and a lot of clubs wouldn't barge pole touch him, just those in trouble in their respective league tables. Shame as I thought he wasn't bad, although Thompson is clearly a fairly large upgrade on him. I see as well that Burton have signed ex Town trialist Dillon Barnes on loan as keeper from QPR after they terminated his deal at Hibs, Hibs fans rated Barned quite highly during his handful of games North of the border and had hoped to sign him until the end of the season.

I believe there is a window allowed in all loan deals which either club can terminate the loan with no penalty during the January transfer window.

Quite strange this, no need to lie or pretend to be an ITK. Hibs didn't rate Barnes at all. The only confusion on there part of him being recalled was the fact they wasn't left with many options.

Shame about Donohue. But, Thompson looks much quicker and more mobile. On Barnes: Yes, I didn't think he looked too bad. From the keepers we saw in pre-season then I thought Baxter looked best, but Barnes looked nearly as good. If he were to be available as a perm, I thought he would be a good one to go for. However, Travers has looked very solid in the games he's played 'on loan' for us thus far - Hope I haven't put the kiss of death on him now!
