Southend Echo apparently stating Cox due to re sign with a 1 year and a 1 year option contract later today.

So are we happy so far. I guess we can't be, but more are we concerned yet.

Seems to be a same old story to me, was expecting a bit more business early on - but plenty of time yet. Next couple of weeks are critical.

Won't judge the squad until the week before the first game. Never been proven that shopping early is better and if we need to wait, so be it.

Look at Cheltenham, or Port Vale... adding a lot early but no-one I'm disappointed we've "missed out on".

Last season we needed early movement, as we only had a few players.  This season a bit different, as we do have a number of bodies, although we don't know yet if the likes of Conroy or Lancashire are near fit.  I wouldn't expect to see a whole lot of movement until deadline day, when the loans will finally be sorted.

One issue that needs sorting is between the sticks.... we currently have 4 keepers, assuming Moore takes up his offer.

Good point, keep writing off RCC as "gone", but he hasn't yet - though clearly won't play.

If he does come I don't remember the last time we actually played with 2 out and out wingers in the side rather than wide midfielders or wingbacks.

You'd probably have to go back to the 60's, maybe early 70's.  Bob Smith's side, had Animal and Windy Miller, but Animal was more the wide midfielder than proper winger.

I recall a game under Wilson, where we beat Soton, before Charlie came and Wee Macca who was a winger, and Tope Odabeyi, who wasn't but played wide on the night ripped them a new one.  A wonder display by Kelvin Davies, kept it down to 1-0.

Yeah I am sure we probably have played a few games since then with 2 out and out wingers but I don't remember them, as you say for me Williams and Miller could well be the closest to 2 wingers I can think of.

Yep. RCC's name doesn't appear on our 'retained list' (at Page 90):

Would have liked to have seen him back here,  but as other people have said if he did return he may not be the same player he was when he left.    However, unlike last season its good to see a lot of rumours occurring,  it does seem most days that there are rumblings in the background which can only mean questions are being asked.  Totally different to this time last season.

This time last season Flitters had already started to sign players, but he needed to as we had few left overs. He'd only been in the job a little over a fortnight.

PB, has a number of leftovers, and probably needs to ship a couple out, before getting any in, given the keeper overload. We don't know the status of Conroy and Lancashire, will they be up and running  Hmmm   Then there will be 5 loans to pad us out... hopefully PB will have been working on this, but movement is likely to be last minute.

There is no keeper overload. We have 2, with a 3rd set to sign.
