I liked him, but as DV has been making a career out of lately, he was a player made for a different era somehow. He just never quite looked good enough when he started but was always a pain for the opposition. Neither Flitcroft nor Brown could figure out how to fit him in, and I reckon that would be the story of his career before us as well. Maybe he gets a bit too distracted in the effort department and he needed to be more selfish and stay in the 6 yard box more often. Fans always love a trier who runs down a lost cause, pressures a defender and causes them to panic a clearance into touch. Unfortunately, he takes up a spot reserved for sticking it in the net.
Pretty much this. Showed great effort and commitment but ultimately difficult to fit in a team. I always thought a 433 with him as one of the wide forwards was the best bet.

Although he scored 1 less goal than woolery and Anderson combined with a lot less game time. Also scored more from open play than Norris. Only Richards bettered his tally.

Richards is the only player upfront I'd be annoyed at losing based on his performances - best eye for a goal in the squad. With Mullin I just don't think the Manager knows how to use him, and Flitcroft, so it is not a surprise to see him leave. I don't like or rate Norris, that much is clear, but you at least kind of know why a Manager puts him in and what he is there for. The other guys still have a lot to prove, it might be the pace element that keeps them in the Managers eyes right now.

Not that I pretend to know, but I’d have thought Cox’s wages would come out of the budget as per usual, then topped up by whatever we get for Mullin. Tempt him by the squad we are attempting to put together and chuck in a handsome promotion bonus.
And give him the money you're going to win on the world cup, 0-0 specialist, by the way, what odds did you get on that brave bet ?.

Eh? I haven’t had a bet on the WC. Got me mixed up with someone else, there.

So Cox is a maybe/maybe not and Jamie Devitt sounds likely.

I don't know much about Devitt, is he a free from Carlisle out of contract? Fits the bill ex PB player at Hull. This name may have been mentioned when we were linked to Dorian Dervite TBF and some fans mixed up what they heard.

Carlisle have a new manager wanting his own players/players who want to play for Carlisle. Devitt triggered the extension (possibly for security) and with that in mind I wouldn't expect Carlisle to demand a fee or make things complicated.
Unless Carlisle want him to stay, I don't see this being a massive hurdle for anyone who wants to sign him.

If he does come I don't remember the last time we actually played with 2 out and out wingers in the side rather than wide midfielders or wingbacks.

Sounds unlikely, unless we're the only offer on the table.... it's for the best.
