For once this is one i disagree with. It was a nothing game in which Austin needed to score to hit a milestone, it was nothing but a cuntish vindictive move from Gunning and shows him for the person he is
I’m not saying I don’t think that Gunning was in the wrong as it just shows what a cunt he is. But surely that’s what the whole point of Russell to make sure stuff like this doesn’t happen, the owner shouldn’t be going direct to the manager. It just points to Gunning being a cunt, Russell a bit of a wet lettuce and the set up of the club being a complete mess with people interfering everywhere.

Austin's exit interview spoke about there being too many voices around the first team and then said that he would just speak directly to the owner, so that would line up.

It also points to the disruptive influence of Austin. He fell out with Morris and fell out with Gunning. I honestly think he felt he was bigger than the club. Thanks for the memories but if I was the new manager I wouldn't want him anywhere near the place.

It took me a minute - both involved in the past with Keith Cousins, architect of the Rushden & Diamonds demise.  Nichols had a business registered out of the same address as Cousins and was mentioned as being brought onboard at R&D through Elite Management.  Keith having also been John Terry's agent, whose wife was a partner in a Horse Racing business with Paul.  Lee and Keith were also together at the publishing firm Lee bankrupted, well, it folded but he wasn't there then, a bit like his Merc in Geneva.

Football is a small old world at times.  All the ones who avoid running a pub seem to know how to extract a living out of it well beyond their playing days.

Powers involvement in R&D was one of the biggest red flags of mine way back when. I can't quite believe we're still dealing with chancers like this so many years later.

Agreed. Great player in his first stint but not worth the hassle in his second stint.

Still don't see how people come to the conclusion "good appointment" and are getting excited, or indeed "bad appointment" and getting miserable.

It's not gunning and he's done some good level coaching, but that doesn't always translate.

Still a very much give him time and see appointment for me.

Biggest question to answer is whether our recruitment approach changes and whether we want to start setting up like a professional club that wants proper experienced personnel in.

Agreed. Perhaps the remainder of Bathfords intel will be correct and the club expect the imminent signings to help sway people in the extended early bird window.

Ryan Whelan on LSpod using the terrifying words 'back five' to describe Kennedy's play. Much better defensive record than anyone else we've had recently though.

Overall though he's got a half decent CV, this feels like a "normal" Flitcroft/Wellens/Garner L2 appointment. Probably not going to turn a miserable club into a successful one, but he has some clear strengths over Gunning. Now we need to see progress higher up the chain of command.
The views of Lincoln fans.

Amazed he's wangled himself another job tbh.

Well, he said he was in the sacking game. He certainly is now with that lot.

Swindon are not a club I have any dislike for and Mark Kennedy left us the framework of one of the best defences in L1; he just couldn't develop from there. I have no knowledge or ITK as to any behind the scenes fall outs.
On that basis I wish him well at Swindon.

I think it’s a really good hire for Swindon - a club who are a demonstration of how not to be run but I think Kennedy will keep them competitive on the pitch at least - it’s a tough job to keep them in the league.

Was thinking if there any of our players he might target but there aren’t any I can think that we had down as Kennedy signings. Maybe he might go for Ali Smith but most of the others who might be available he already fell out with

There are some nice golf courses around Swindon. He had better play them all before Christmas while he has the chance.
Uninspiring choice as manager but I was not impressed by Garner or for that matter Wellens, at least its not Gunning.

He has a couple of seasons managing behind him so at leats he has some experience.

He has more games as manager under his belt and a higher win rate than Wellens and Garner both did when they joined us.

Kennedy likes to play defensive football, which I admit I am an advocate of, as Macari used to say "if you dont concede you don't lose games" and then you sign a couple of talented attackers who can grab you goals.

The best teams are built from a solid defence 1st.

I am open minded on his appointment, of course he has links to those in charge but if he can do the job then lets see what he can bring to the table.

Also he wasnt a bad player in his day. Unlike Gunning.

Yes I'd expect a few signings in the window.
You'd think mcGurk and ofobohr would be the first two.

But it'll take more than that - they wouldn't really be massive shock 'get your season tickets now, everything has changed' types.

The early  bird window closes way before will see if we actually have a squad in place in time

Best I can realistically hope for is keeping us up and retaining our football league status.

Another year of purgatory.

Scott Lindsay left in similar circumstances, and look what happened.

Different managers adapt in different scenarios and clubs.

It's a step forward, albeit a small step.

I'm very much in the wait and see camp, the feedback I've read from Lincoln fans does make him seem very Scott Lindsayesque, but Bristol Rovers fans were critical of Garner and he did ok/well. But of course I am wary that we were much more structured under Garner and had Ben Chorley and a decent core of staff then. Unfortunately the structure now is much more fragile and so my expectations are significantly lower/more realistic.

The goal under Clem and co is now to stay in the league.

Let’s just refer it to an exceptionally late bird.

As I understand it, Flynn is discussing the vacant Cheltenham job with their CEO. If he gets it, he wants Charlie there for one last year.

At the last game of the season, GG didn’t name Charlie in the match day squad. Someone called Clem in Aus and told him. He was immediately on the phone to GG and told him that not only would he be in the squad, he WILL be playing from the start

He threatened to fire GG immediately after the game if this didn’t happen.

Meanwhile, Charlie has known of the new Manager appointment for a few days.
My main issue with this all not being entirely true is that Clem was at the last game of the season and not in Australia so not sure it's entirely true is it
