Just to clarify the question regarding Clems whereabouts on the last game. He was in the UK for a total of 10 days. He was not in the UK at the last game.

Pretty sure that's not correct. I remember seeing pictures of him and looking back at the Morecambe matchday thread it was mentioned that Clem was there in person. What you stated could still have happened, just the telephone call to Oz bit was off.

I have no issue with Kennedy. If he gets us winning games I'm not bothered about who he knows.

My judgement will be on player signings - are we looking to build a mens team with players who have at least some experience of League football at this level or above, or are we recruiting for the 24/25 STFC crèche.

Play-offs minimum are a must for me for this club in this division. By the end of August we should have some idea of how likely that is based on our first team recruitment.

I stand corrected, his original 10 day stay was extended. My bad.

To be fair Bathford, it's more likely that Clem intervened in person upon learning that Charlie wasn't going to be in the XI/squad, in my eyes at least.

Let's let bygones be bygones and put it down to an admin error Smiley

We'll give him a chance, but recruitment for a strong defence is key and we'll see.

Only five teams scored more than us , and only two teams conceded more. Simple.

While a new Manager is always going to give some bland statements about intent, and a club is always going to say they got the man they most wanted, one or two little snippets were key to me.  He mentioned the recruitment team and Russell kept relating back to the Academy.  Given the evidence of three years, those little takeaways suggest to me that the plan is to continue down the path we have already trodden, just try and be better at it.  Honestly, the constant reliance on an Academy that doesn't even have a proper home and hasn't had anything remotely close to the investment necessary to sustain anything more than bit of luck, should show everyone that this is not a serious group.

Having said all that, you can get lucky in sports, even if you are shit.

But we lost the vast majority of those goals, so they also need replacing.

So are you saying we only need to get a better defence? I hope not. We’ve more ground staff than 1st team players. We need a whole new team. As a minimum.

We lost all the goals on January, don’t be daft by suggesting we have a good team aside from the defence.

Interviewed 9 candidates and ended up on someone who was in the same world cup squad as one of our owners dad.

I wonder if these interviews were done at a BBQ while pissed. Who else got an interview? Chris Kielys mum?

That’s quite a tenuous link isn’t it…

I mean don’t get me wrong - it could very well be the link…

…but…just because he was in International squads with Dean Kiely doesn’t mean they were even mates. Let alone good enough mates that you’d be able to get his son to give you job 20+ years after you went to a WC together…

Plenty of people I played football with 10-15 years ago that wouldn’t sort me out a job just because we were team mates.

Is there anything else to indicate Mark & Dean are close friends?
