Other than signing Clarke it looks like business as usual under these goons to me.
Business as usual under these goons last year was literally crickets for the next 6 weeks! Over the entire window we signed Kinsella (solid L2 pro, good signing on paper, meh on the pitch), Uwakwe, Genesini, Godwin-Malife (in a swap) and Lewis Ward as permanent signings. Probably two permanent signings that were first team adjacent, in the whole window, and one of them was a swap for a player we rated reasonably highly. Then Kemp, Young, Mahoney, B Ward on loan. Luckily for us, those first two were absolute mustard and kept us up. Tempting to say we had more of a rebuilding job to do this summer, but last year we'd shipped out Williams, Harries, Roberts, Massey, Dabre, Cowmeadow and Baudry and then sold Wakeling, Lavinier, Darcy and Iandolo and loaned out Aguiar and Adeloye. I haven't counted but pretty sure we had a significant net reduction of players over the window.

Long way to go but there is no way so far this is ‘business as usual’ we’ve had a better June than the last 2 years - even if that was a low bar.
Cain has been here ages and I still couldn’t tell what type of midfielder he actually is. Looks to have decent technique but that’s it but he’s (still) never really had a run of games…never ever felt there was a place for both him & McEachran in our team - so maybe with one gone Cain might get some more game time and step it up?

Are you judging June as better because we've got them in early, or because they look better caliber.
Clarke looks a real capture. The other two 🤷. On the face of it the injury issues are a worry.
Cain is an odd one. Got nowhere near enough game time, yet seen nothing much to wish he had

I think the fact we could play a friendly today and put out a first XI is probably some progress, but the bar is so low. Most teams should be able to do that before pre-season gets underway.
We are still a good 8-9 short of a team competing towards the top, good players, not punts.

They are in earlier. They are permanent signings in positions we need to bolster. They look good on paper & for the most part the fans of their previous clubs speak well of them. They’ve also got more experience under their belts than some of our recent signings.

Not sure where to put this but the club tweeted
"Congratulations to @academystfc forward, Botan Ameen who featured for @iraqiproplayers against Al Zawrha and Juawiya for the Under-20s 🇮🇶"
Well done to the young lad, I hope he becomes a good player.

I prefer Botan Ameen, Botan Ameen, the 2nd best Iraqi that I've ever seen (words changed to keep Jayo happy).

Just what we have needed for a while, so on the face of it a good signing.
Think we need another starting CB , and probably one that’s a squad player

I’d say so, hopefully big enough to win some headers in both boxes
