Quite simply, as a board we represent our members, so in this regard we're being led by the predominant views of our members once the final vote count is in. We've collected questions from the fans, passed them onto the Club for them to answer and then it's up to our members to decide on what's been presented to them. Hope that clears it up a little.

I think it’s important though we explain why we’re not taking a position and recommending anything to the members.

There’s several reasons for that:

This is one those topics that is emotional, different people look at it in different ways and I don’t think it’s right that 8 individuals who sit on the trust board should try and influence that. I think people has listened to the arguments and listened to the information that the club have put out recently, and they’ll have a view on whether they’re in support of it or not.

I think the other thing that’s worth baring in mind is this vote is binding on the trust board and it’s binding on the trust’s representatives to the JV as well. So myself (Neil Hutchings) and Chris Howell the trust secretary sit on the JV as the directors representing the supporters. It would be very difficult for the trust and myself and Chris to deliver the will of the trust membership if we’ve come out one way of the other in advance of the vote.

We won't be joining the list of "open letters". We don't believe a significant number of people will be swayed one way or another by Dick Mattick or James Phipps or us writing a letter. We'll continue to present information, and let people decide, then respond WRT what that means and either a) why fans have voted it down or b) why it's terrifying that it's been approved.
