Umm, Power won the Appeal is what I am reading, and by default, so did STFC (we didn't send representation).  Seems to have been a technicality type win - the FA have worded their rules in a manner that enables a loophole or two.  It was the FA appealing the decisions and they lost the Appeal because the wording of the regulations was not specific enough.  Interestingly, STFC originally admitted guilt on count 7, then changed it's plea, which I presume is because the lawyers for the other parties identified the defence that would enable us to win - essentially the FA did not bring evidence to support actual misconduct occurring, just that the parties had clearly agreed they were going to try and breach the rules.  Seems agreeing to do it is not defined as misconduct and the FA clearly didn't bother or manage to get supporting evidence that showed the follow through.

Have Power and Standing ever actually formally concluded their spat?

Never seen a conclusion - which is why the deal that led to our current ownership structure should always be a concern.  Standing was after money he claimed he was owed because of STFC trading and had a right to block a sale as a potential owner.  He waved it through.

It's also worth noting that Clem originally was not pursuing a purchase of the club, his legal case was to try and block Power selling because Power hadn't transferred the Shares he was owed.  Clem was keen to make sure he got a share of any sale and wasn't just listed as a creditor.

The odd thing about that is why did Power bother wasting time and money being represented at an appeal that on the face of it has little to do with him any more.

Because he won originally on count 5?  The FA only appealed 5 & 7.

But why would he bother with the cost and ball ache of putting in representations unless he has plans to get back involved in club ownership (or in fact anything that is FA controlled)?

I wonder if Power saw a gap in the regulations back in 2013 or just chanced his luck.

It doesn't look good on the FA in terms of their vast income but unable to write rules and regulations that are fit for purpose. Presumably their legal department is getting a kicking and re-writing the regulations.

Such a shame we didn't have hot shot lawyers to pick apart the Football League rules in 1990...

Luckily, we have nothing to do with any of the parties involved any more and everything is now fully transparent and above board.

I heard over the weekend that recently there was a consortium interested and had an ex footballer employed in an advisory role to investigate the Club. Said advisor told them in no uncertain terms to keep well away as it is a toxic situation with too many people still behind the scenes with vested interests.

Yes it is a rumour, and make of it what you will, but is one that I can certainly believe being told where it came from.

I wonder now that the FA’s case has concluded if we’ll see an out of court settlement between Power and Standing+Clem. From what I’ve heard of the grapevine, Standing is happy to walk away with the golf course land and leave Clem to it but that was 6+ months ago so who knows how that will shake out.

Having gone through the same process. I’m sorry, but this will be a common conclusion from anyone looking deeper into the current regimes affairs.

Was the Golf Course land ever included in any sale to Clem anyway? Not sure it has any value (bar as a golf course) anyway its ages since the Council was minded to grant the PP so suspect it would almost be a back to scratch process to get any consents with all the associated costs.

I think what an ex footballer thoughts would be the least of any potential purchasers concerns, I'd be more concerned by what your accountants and legal advisors uncovered TBH - hence why I suspect they will be loathe to let any potential purchasers anywhere near the books or actual ownership structure and will just hide behind bullshit about not seeing proof of funds etc.

This is the sort of thing that worries me, we are all desperate for a sale, and it is clear that there are buyers out there, but it appears they are all getting put off at the first hurdle. It is a concern.

I was told a little while back that Power is still hovering and getting something out the club, no idea what or how true that is but certainly wouldn't be shocked if true
