Hi Reg...that had me thinking....so this sheet shows Bromley in Kent....formed back in 1892 only having played one match up untill 1976......with no goals scored and seven conceded! While it dosn't give the county after the name Bromley the year formed is the give away. Bromley by Bow has a football team but at a much lower level...and have never played in the cup from what i can see. http://www.footballdatabase.eu/football.club.bromley.1976-1977.5412..en.htmlEdit. Very confusing though Reg....because even though on wiki the year matches up(founded)...no mention of them v us! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromley_F.C. Think i may have to have a word with ol Ploughman....he should know Thanks for making the effort....I liked the latest result entry for Bromley....Swindon 7 Bromley 0 (Nov 1976) Think we'll assume from that it is the Kentish Bromley. However, another one which has niggled over the years, is when we put 5 without reply on Ashford Town in 67, was that that the Kentish Ashford, which I've always thought, or the Middlesex Ashford? Perhaps you could do a photo shoot on Bromley, on one of your road trips. Further...I see that Albert Jarrett is on Bromley's books

According to their club history on their website, it would appear that was the Kentish Ashford. They impressively played league opposition in the FA Cup 4 times during the 60's. More confusingly, Ashford Town (Middlesex) FC, is based in Ashford, Surrey...

Not so much that they did it, more so that they then printed it!

Think it's one of those efforts, whereby bureaucrats, attempt to re-write our history. In their heads Middlesx no longer exists...in which case who are the bunch of toffs who play cricket at Lords?

Got a CD of Diamond Head live at the BBC. They used to pitch up in the Amphi of the Brunel Rooms early 80s and were bloody excellent. Never made it but had a bit of a renaissance after Metallica covered a couple of their songs. The opening of Am I Evil is pure class. Good live but not so good on record - a bit like a heavy metal Dr Feelgood.

What's it about?
It's set in an alternate 19th century America where gunpowder doesn't exist. Follows a British officer attempting to stay alive after getting caught up in matters way above his head.
That.

Except in the book, you know the difference between alternate and alternative right?

I'm off to the burns unit. Yes, I do. In my defence, 'alternate' is often (incorrectly) used in that manner when discussing the genre...
