Move away for a prolonged period and then take a trip back. It really has very little going for it. Old Town area is nice, Outlet/Steam is decent and housing is relatively affordable in comparison to job opportunities within a commutable distance. After that, it gets grubby pretty quickly.
That’s most towns in the UK tbf
Putting my town planners hat on (and full disclosure I haven't been in the town centre for 20 odd years since then only engagement with the town has been the Outlet, Steam and the CG), I think where Swindon suffered, and continues to suffer, more than most is that it was one of the first places where the council really embraced out of town shopping etc at the detriment of town centres, I remember when I was a kid, so 35 odd years back it was always the recurring joke from by Swindon born old man that whenever we drove to Swindon there was always at least one roundabout further out where out of town development was going on. In more recent times iff you want to build out of town there are loads of planning hoops to jump through, hence other late adopters haven't suffered as spatially as pioneers like Swindon did. This popped up this morning and made me smile, albeit I cannot comment as to its accuracy, albeit a few of the northern ones of places I know better are pretty much on the money. https://www.ilivehere.co.uk/swindon-5.html

Not completely factual, I've lived in Peatmoor which is a very affluent part of Town and nestled in the suburbs of west Swindon also when the Honda workers were leasing their cars they were paying more than double the £99 per month quoted!

I'm going to be incredibly British here but... the weather.
Bar New Years day it has basically pissed it down here constantly since Christmas Day, it was so dark this morning that when I walked the small person to school at 8.45am we set the sensor on the outside light off!
It getting right on my bloody nerves!

Watching the Sheffield Wed v Newcastle match Martin Keown was asked to name his player of the match. So when did they drop the man and replace with player when it would be politically correct if it's its men v men😀

Buy a couple of chickens and get your own fresh eggs.
