Read the fucking article. He was in the UK under the name Hewa Rahimpur. His actual name is Hama Khoshnaw, from Kurdistan.
That article suggests his name is different based upon the say so of a couple of other people traffickers, if his name is incorrect why are Belgium trying him under the other name, and actually why is he being tried in Belgium at all when he was operating in the UK. I guess that comes back to how the government can ensure asylum claims are valid from people who they say they are.
It's tough, but I'm not sure closing all legal routes for asylum claims is the right way or this rwanda thingy
Actually processing claims would be a pretty good starting point, instead of spending billions shunting them onto boats. Also read something the other day noting that we are accepting asylum claims from people fleeing bloody Rwanda!

Which goes back to my point. If people can’t prove their identity how do they expect to be given asylum.
Make it a prerequisite. No ID no asylum.

If you're claiming asylum from Gaza or Ukraine etc and your house has been bombed to fuck or you've had to leave in a big rush, including your passport, do you become stateless?

I see Egypt don’t want any Palestinian refugees for fear of importing terrorists.

I don't have personal experience of it but I imagine that one is leaving ones home whilst someone is bombing the shit out of it or when you fear that you are going to be arrested for your sexuality/political views nipping down the registry office for a copy of your birth certificate is unlikely to be high on your agenda.

I've got a solution that Audrey is bound to love Worldwide biometrics for all! No biometrics, no tax, no statehood, no moving between countries

So you think that the thousands that have already got into the UK all come from war zones.

I have made no such claim, and thankfully you've shared a link that proves that's not the only way you can claim asylum
I did a quick google and there are currently 32 active warzones in the world at the moment. We don't have to take everyone...but that's a lot of people potentially affected

Or it could be that once they leave Gaza it could be a proper cunt to get israel out of gaza so that the palestinians could return home? The west bank has called and they want a word https://apnews.com/article/palestinian-jordan-egypt-israel-refugee-502c06d004767d4b64848d878b66bd3d

You may jest but biometrics are on the way. My residents permit for Greece is biometric - fingerprints. Cause a problem, people demand action, provide solution, IDs for all.

So, give us your opinion on unfettered, undocumented immigration.

I see Egypt don’t want any Palestinian refugees for fear of importing terrorists.
To provide a bit of context, its more to do with Egypt being a bit concerned that people who are forced into Egypt from Gaza* (and a fear that Israel wants to force a permanent expulsion of Palestinians into their countries and nullify Palestinian demands for statehood) may lead to a few 100k of people who maybe just be a bit pissed off with the Israeli's and start looking at launching attacks from Egypt (so not necessarily existing terrorist, just potential future ones created by present events). *Egypt are also concerned that if they allow them in as they have before, despite reassurances (which have also been given before) Israel won't then allow them back into Gaza.

Exactly. But surely Egypt’s concerns should be the concern of every other country.

So, give us your opinion on unfettered, undocumented immigration.
I think it's entirely reasonable to know (as well as you can) who is in the country but, as with every process or system, there will always be loopholes or a way to game the system. It's about limiting the impact of those loopholes. (Please do bare in mind that we were talking about asylum claimants and they are not the same as undocumented immigrants)

I know you're replying to Horlock on this, but could you expand on this point please? I don't want to guess what you meant
