Spot on. Peterborough are a team I look at and think, why on earth aren't we doing what they are doing.

Because we don’t have an owner who has put in that much money, and someone along side him that can identify talent, develop it & sell for healthy profits.

The irony is there are plenty of Peterborough fans that would happily get rid of McAnthony & Fry without realising they will quite probably go back to being a Div 4 team when they do.

Exactly that. We try and do the peterborough model on the cheap which is why we don’t do it well. Peterborough have the cash to initially invest in proper talents that can be polished and sold on, we try and either do them on free transfer punts and small fee cast offs.

Where we would be put off by a non peanut sized fee, Peterborough would look at what they could possibly recoup for that investment down the line.

In some ways Barry Fry is a bit like Lee Power should have been. Such a shame Power was such a crook.

Absolutely, Barry Fry is what Power longed to be, a wheeling dealing cockney money making talent spotter.

Peterborough - Some £70 million generated from transfer income.
…..Then there is Swindon and all roads lead to Scott Twine.

To be fair, ish, our record transfer fee is one of either Gladwin or Luongo.  I am sure most would say the latter, but as far as Spurs are concerned, legally, it was the former!

Power also managed to bring in decent money for Ajose.

The Peterborough comparison always raises a smile for me. £70m bought in on players but still £25m in debt

Peterborough total liabilities are £25m. Includes £6m interest free loans from owner companies, £6m on disputed loan charging 18% interest, £600k on unsecured loan at 12.5% and £2.5m Posh Bond at 9%.

I would hazard a guess that Fry etc are taking more out that club than our current lot, not saying it's right but i would love better ownership than that

Haven’t they got a separate company that owns the ground that put Posh into financial trouble recently.

Walsall have published their accounts. Made a profit.

Exeter did get lucky with Ollie Watkins (£7.2m), Ethan Ampadu (£2.8m), Matt Grimes (£2.4m) and Jayden Stockley (£1m) all sold in the space of 3 years.  (about £14m in total).

Which probably adds up to more than we have recieved in transfer fees in our clubs entire history combined.

And how much of that if it was us would the playing budget see?

I believe their Championship pushes have over extended them at times, why I'd rather we use the Exeter and Crewe models combined.  Just wouldn't mind whatever their recruitment team are drinking to be supplied.

Problem is, both have a good academy set-up. We don't.

McCarthy should be announced in next couple of days.

Also heard that Angol was the striker that Flynn was after, but started and scored on the weekend.

Thoroughly thoroughly depressing that we targeted Angol to be our Young replacement. Worra club.

So how does scoring a goal put a possible transfer on ice?
