This is certainly the priority now. Can you imagine our back line on Saturday if we don't get any defenders?
Yeah, the back line that did really well v Plymouth.

Big John Akinde might think otherwise. That guy wrestles us about whenever I’ve seen him play. Wouldn’t mind a forward option like that to change things up

Wasn’t the LWB a trialist?

And the other four a defence that was part of our worst run of form in this Division, likely ever, or close to ever.

Maybe it's the distance and not being that in tune with the players in our League these days, but can someone explain WTF the point is in signing a young, relatively inexperienced L2 players as a potential back-up striker on LOAN??

Certainly feels like a squad filler rather than a starting XI of even match day 18 signing.

In an ideal world did we need a 4th striker, probably yes.
Was it a priority, nope.
In an ideal world did we need to address at least three positions (CB, LWB & CM) ahead of it, yes.

Not even like getting Kemp in on loan who at least on paper looks like an upgrade to our XI.

All this waiting and a hype video for a 4th choice striker who can’t get a game for Bradford.
Anyone rating him ahead of Austin, RHM or Wakeling?

Personally I can understand why people don't like season long loans with recalls. During the Garner season we had top class players that were recalled and it means that you have to 'start' again in January.

Aye, and next season we lost three major permanent under contract players (Gladwin, Reed, MacDonald) in January and failed to get rid of the season long loan we seemingly didn't want any more (Jephcott). It's just a league two thing, anyone who does well will leave, the trick is having replacements lined up.

73.5 hours until kick off and we've still not signed a defender. Only 1 permanent signing with one going the other way.

Where is that panic button?

Perhaps the club should have identified Young as the "squad filler", but held off from signing him for a couple of weeks because we've not yet filled the other positions? I know that's not what you're saying, but it seems plenty of people would have been happier if we did.

If they're training with the squad as reported and it's just an admin issue, I'm fine with it (as long as it's done in time for them to play Saturday).

I'd been told Godwin-Malife and Edwards were done, and they were waiting on Young to announce them all together. Who the hell knows at this point.
What's the delay with those two now?

I could understand signing Young on a perm deal, he'd be like most of last seasons signings.  Someone who the stats maybe suggest could be more than he is right now.  But, signing him on loan looks weird - why?  it wastes a loan spot we could use for a player much higher up the food chain, that we'd otherwise not afford to have onboard.  Even a loan with an option to buy in Jan or something?  Are we seriously expecting him to be first choice? because you expect to use loan spots on first team talent.

As someone mentioned before, if he’s capable of playing in the 10 role then it makes more sense as he can cover both forwards and Kemp as backup. If we get UGM and Edwards over the line (all fingers crossed) then it looks like we’re a LWB, flexible wingback and striker away.

                     Murphy Mahoney
                            Brann

           UGM         Edwards     FBT
         Minturn       Brewitt     Clayton

Hutton       Kinsella    McEachran    New LWB
Shade          Khan         Cain          Genesini?

                          Kemp
                          Young

                 Austin         RHM
     New ST (Doidge?)  Wakeling

Sounds like Lavinier could be on one of them - which would be fair enough if FGR insisted on that being part of the deal.  I still don't like selling him to get a player, it solves one issue while creating another - our track record of having a ready made replacement about to sign is not great.

Well, yeah if we sign all the players we want in the positions we need - the squad will look complete.

…but we havent, yet.
