Terminated his contract but still hold his registration. How does that work?
It depends on if they have paid up the full length of his contract meaning "technically", its fairly common in football for a manager to leave a club but still be on the payroll for the duration of the current contract that was the clubs do not have to pay a lump sum it can come out of the current wage budget monthly still, so they are actually on like a "gardening leave" scenario. Not sure if its as common with footballers though.

I have no idea if this is how it works with Ward and Sutton TBH.

You would think so, Sutton still have the non league mindset it seems.

We could have done that with Richie when Bournemouth sold him

Would be happier if he was a CB, but need all the numbers we can get at the moment.

George McEchran signed
We were linked to him last season on loan, very highly rated in the past, on paper looks a good signing.

Meh. injuries and suspensions aside a technical midfielder is the least of our issues. Now if he can play wide ...

Punty punt. Good that Morris using his contacts but we'll see.

good to see there's budget though.

All going to be punts when we can only sign out of contract players. Very limited pool now.

If we can get a MacDonald replacement in from somewhere that would be some serious magic.

Would have had a team full of them if The Football League had let us in to it.

Not the obvious profile we need, but a player with a bit of pedigree behind him. Feels a bit like the RHM signing in that there's clearly a name there that people know, but he's drifted a bit. Let's hope he works out.

Wasn't there an article recently with 3 potential signings on it, 1 of them being Mcechran? Who were the other 2, any Centre backs?

PAUL DOWNING

https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/23305852.three-free-agent-signings-swindon-town-make-2023/

The Taunton-born centre-back has clubs such as Portsmouth, Blackburn Rovers, and Doncaster Rovers on his C.V. and has racked up almost 400 appearances across the Football League – almost of half of which were for Walsall.

At 31-years-old and having not played since his release by the Fratton Park club last summer, it would take him a few weeks to get up to speed again, but fans have been crying out for an experienced head at the back to bark orders and guide the young and talented squad through difficult moments. Once fit, Downing could be an inspired choice by Town’s recruitment staff.
