Sorry but thats a crazy statement.

I don't think we could get better than Ajose in this league, Ajose is a proven goalscorer in L1 he would set this league on fire if he had a decent big man alonside of him.

Goal poachers are not easy to come by and very few contribute much to the game outside of the box, look at Gerd Muller, Paolo Rossi, Michael Owen, Ian Rush, Gary Lineker, Charlie Austin et al....they hardly did anything outside of the box but any side that has a poacher capable of 20+ a season will be there or there abouts at the end of the season, Ajose is that sort of player.

I don't disagree but he has to get the service, he didn't last season and we ended up carrying him, we need to score goals and Nicky does but he needs the service.

Given the right service Nicky will score a ton of goals, don't get me wrong but I would personally like to see someone who is more of a team player (will scor scores less than Nicky) but the team would score more.

The other side of the coin is, maybe DF can get the best out of Nicky and get him to play more as a team player.

Getting him back would be a coup and I would be happy but is he the type of person we need and that DF wants?

I personally think Nicky will get a team in L1 I don't think he will come to our level but it would be a massive coup if we did.

I think Ajose if he was signed certainly would not be the only striker we sign, as through his career, Flitcroft has always prefered a little and large combo up front, somebody like O'Grady but hes gone to Chesterfield, I do think that with a good target man alongside of him then Ajose  will get 25+, also it is hard to compare this coming season with last as the way we play is going to massively change and I am sure many more chances will be created for our strikers than it has for a few years.

I would never associate Ajose with being lazy? Surprised to hear that. Every game last season I watched he was chasing down defenders and making huge amounts of runs which he never received and you could see his frustration. He's a goal scorer and if we can give him the ball he would be one of the best in league 2 without doubt

Despite every one of your posts being an essay you don't actually appear to understand football as you really do talk some crap. He scored 25+ goals in 3 quarters of a season the season before last and you think we can do better.  He probably won us more points than any other player that season, last year we were just crap with a 'manager' who lost the plot. Ajose would walk into every team in League 2 and if we sign him I'd place money on him scoring a hatful. Running around a lot isn't the only way to contribute, based on your logic you'd rather have donkeys who put in effort than players who 'only' score shit loads of goals. Creating chances is irrelevant if you don't have someone who can finish them and clearly Ajose can!

And he still scored 1 in 3.

If we sign Ajose, whoever made it happen needs and deserves a pay rise. He'd be bloody brilliant in Div 4. He was a damn fine signing in Div 3. Come home Nicky :-)

Flitcroft strikes me as the sort of chap who would be reluctant to turn to players of the previous regime regardless of how much we like them.

The only thing is that NA is a Bury boy, so might fit the sort of norvern boy template that attracts Flitcroft. Personally I think this is a non starter.

I agree, Reg. But didn't raise the possibility, just hoping.🙂

I'd let him off any tracking back or general effort as, fitness permitting, it is as close to a guarenteed 20-25 league goals as you can get in this shite league

Agreed. I get the feeling he's a new Alpha male in a pride of lions.....the cubs get wasted.

Am I the only one who gets fed up with the obsession a lot of fans have with signing ex players again?

I couldn't give a flying fuck whether or not he's played for us in the past. A 1 in 2 striker in the league above would be a great signing, be it Ajose or anybody else. If it happens, of course. Maybe people are getting excited (perhaps prematurely), at the prospect of signing a player that just happens to be rather good?

For me, it's nothing to do with him being an ex-player as such. It's more about the fact that he's got a damned scoring record at L1 level (specifically for us) and it's reasonable to assume that scoring goals in L2 for him would be like shooting fish in a barrel which would enhance our chances of promotion manyfold.

There's obviously a good chance that a L1 Club will want him and no doubt the player himself will want to play higher than L2 but on the other hand, there is clearly something in the air and/or water at Swindon that agrees with him and that may just tempt him back if we are indeed persuing him. I don't know about this Flitctroft 'Alpha Male' thing, I would have hoped he's more pragmatic than that but time will tell. Stranger things have happened though and I can't believe anyone wouldn't want him just because he's played for us before.
