If we take up the maximum number of loanees, 5, I reckon on 2/3 more permanents.

According to Power - pre Flitcroft admittedly - he reckons Iandolo is our next big thing

I like the look of Iandolo, but if as we're led to believe, there's a change of emphasis this season, to actually trying to win games, instead of getting 30 min cameos out of kids...he's unlikely to feature much.

I think you hit the nail on the head Reg. Last season's gone, new beginnings under a new manager and from his interviews, a very different approach. If Iandolo, Brophy, Thomas can step up then great. If not then they will be moving on.
Re-team building, I think we're still light in midfield. I would like to see a creative player recruited, never adequately replaced Luongo, Gladwin looked half the player when he came back and Yaser has problems in his mental approach to the game.
I am hoping for a mentally stronger approach from the team this season. I am still haunted by the capitulation in the second half at Bramall Lane and the final seventy minutes at Rochdale. They had about as much fight as Larry Grayson in a strop.
I know preseason is about fitness and the team gelling but if Flitcroft can instill some pride, spirit and attitude then I will be encouraged .

Wasn't Iandolo's contract extension just for one year? You don't give your 'next big thing' a one year deal.

I doubt you'll see a creative midfielder.

Rightly in my opinion, it's back to basics. 2 banks of 4, make yourself hard to beat and get some bits and pieces off a big man.

I thought that Power thought that Jordan Young was the best prospect hence the 3 year deal.

Yeah we will be flat back 4 with little movement from position for the defenders, 2 hard tackling and hard working central midfielders sitting just in front of the back 4, we will probably play with 2 wide men getting past players and pumping balls into the box where one large old fashioned centre forward will get on the end and one smaller number 10 looking for knock downs.

Thats how he played while at Barnsley and Bury, old school, build a strong defence first which I have no problem with. Its certainly more exciting to watch that it was under Williams.

Given Purkiss is an attacking full back, imagine we'll play a right sided midfielder who will cut inside rather than hit the byline (prob Goddard/Iandolo) and then get a proper winger on the left with a blocker behind
Guess a bit like amankwaah/mcgovern, mcevely/ward

Yes  There could just about be a space for Brophy in this...

Either way its a breath of fresh air compared to the inept innefectual dull football Swindon fans have suffered from in recent years.

Nicky Ajose is genuinely possible, know for a fact we've put an offer in that he's considering.

I think if Ajose does come back he will be top scorer and give us a great chance of top 3.

Making a player an offer and them accepting it though are very different.

I would love NA to come back but will he come down to our league? not so sure.

I have a feeling we will make an offer for PdC target Billy Kee, don't know why but I do.

Ajose knows he's only ever done it at Swindon though, again, if he scores the goals he will get an offer somewhere else. It's a win win

Also know we've been offered Turnbull on a free and it's for us to turn down.
