Don't want to overplay this issue (as it's only one of many) but I had to check the route you described on Google Maps to prove I wasn't going mad.

Reading to Swindon
    40 miles
    53 minutes

Reading to Northampton (via A34)
    82 miles
    1 hour 50 minutes

I can tell you - it doesn't take me 53 minutes to get to Swindon!

WokinghamRed, it takes 40 minutes maximum if the roads are clear from Wokingham doesn't it (6 miles easat of Reading), park car and be inside the ground in 45 minutes normally.

All true...I think Google, Multimap etc. all adhere to speed limits more diligently than the rest of us.  General point about Northampton being an arse to get to for Mr Cox stands though.

I see that Reading have loaned out James Henry and Alex Pearce to Norwich, hope this doesn't affect things in anyway.

This should be the first thing he tells us at the press conference when he has signed.  :?

"I feel closer to Swindon .... about 67 minutes actually"

Looking doubtful now ...

Cox deal on brink of collapse
By Gareth Moorhouse
Comment
SWINDON'S attempts to bring Simon Cox to the County Ground have hit a late hitch, with manager Maurice Malpas admitting the deal could be on the brink of collapse.

Town have agreed a fee with Premiership club Reading for the 20-year-old's services, but Malpas insists the club and player are still "miles away" from agreeing personal terms.

Malpas claims to have made Cox an "exceptional offer" to join the County Ground club, but the player's wage demands are believed to be too high.

With the transfer window due to close at midnight tonight, Town are due to hold further talks with the striker in an attempt to end the impasse.

Meanwhile, Town's bid to bring a Championship midfielder to the club also looks to have stalled, with personal terms again the sticking point.

Board member Jeremy Wray told the Swindon Advertiser yesterday that the two parties were close to reaching an agreement, but that deal now looks dead.

On a brighter note for Town fans, Lee Peacock has agreed a new two-year deal with the Robins which would keep him in Wiltshire until the summer of 2010.

It is a massive shame though Sad

If he signs for us and suddenly turns shit some of you on here are going to look pretty stupid for making such a fuss that Fitton had no choice but to sign him. You should probably be made to pay for him or something.  :nono:

Fitton has eyes, he can see for himself how much we've missed Cox since he left.

Looks like it's gone tits up now anyway, so it's all irrelevant I suppose.

Fuck him. If he wants to be greedy let him be greedy.

He can either play in the reserves for Reading or Northampton can screw their wage structure and get him. We'll finish above Northampton either way do I'm not concerned.
