SWINDON'S attempts to bring Simon Cox to the County Ground have hit a late hitch, with manager Maurice Malpas admitting the deal could be on the brink of collapse.
Town have agreed a fee with Premiership club Reading for the 20-year-old's services, but Malpas insists the club and player are still "miles away" from agreeing personal terms.
Malpas claims to have made Cox an "exceptional offer" to join the County Ground club, but the player's wage demands are believed to be too high.

With the transfer window due to close at midnight tonight, Town are due to hold further talks with the striker in an attempt to end the impasse.
Meanwhile, Town's bid to bring a Championship midfielder to the club also looks to have stalled, with personal terms again the sticking point.
Board member Jeremy Wray told the Swindon Advertiser yesterday that the two parties were close to reaching an agreement, but that deal now looks dead.
On a brighter note for Town fans, Lee Peacock has agreed a new two-year deal with the Robins which would keep him in Wiltshire until the summer of 2010.
