He has also managed the Jocks U-21 team as well so has a bit of international experience behind him the only thing that would concern me is his knowledge of the english leagues and players, that said if it does turn out to be him then I for one will back him until such time he screws it up.

Of course this could be a red herring and we are going to appoint Alex Ferguson as he has decided he has taken Man U as far as he can and wants a new challenge

Agree with that SiPi, we've been a bit spolit by having 'big name' managers of late, looking around League One there's not a wealth of clubs with managers that are particualrly exciting prospects even if we did want ot go pay compo and get another clubs manager in.  Look at Scunthorpe, they got pormoted with their Physio as manager!

Apparently Malpas was at the club scouting for his mate who will become manager with Malpas as his second in charge.....Mark McGhee.

Yes it is a joke....but it does prove that we truly could do worse than Malpas!

Knowledge of English players? You mean like Sturrock who's bulk of players that he signed weren't English!

erm... didn't we almost not have a club a few weeks ago?

Maybe with a three million pound tax bill looming, not to mention all the other 'little' problems Diamond Mike has no doubt left, maybe the new owners have suddenly realised that an expensive manager (and I'm not just talking compo here, Sturrock and Wise were on £250k plus) is a luxury the club can't afford at the moment.

I'm not particulary keen on Malpas (if it is him, let's be honest this is all a bit two and two together to make sixty seven) but I'm less Keen on us being run adopting a lower league interuptation of Risdaleian football economics and landing in another big load of shite a couple of years down the line.

Malpas would definitely be a big mistake. I mean, how many decent managers has Scotland ever produced anyway?

Yes Malpas is not as experienced as we have been led to believe in Mr Fittons interviews with the press.

Yes Malpas has not managed anyone who have won anything.

Yes Malpas "may be" the cheap option compared to other experienced managers.

Yes Malpas has obviously been recommended by Old Luggy.

But

If he gets the job he will have my full backing until proved he doesnt deserve it, I will give him a chance as Mr Hertha says....I also dont have the experience in choosing managers that so many of the Town fans obviously think they have, I will respect Mr Fittons choice whoever he decides to appoint as without him we would not have a club to support anyway.

I agree with this, however I still feel a little disappointed that we are going for someone with little experience or success at managerial level (if indeed he is appointed). I thought we'd go for someone more like Cotterills experience. I guess that class of manager either don't want it , or was too expensive.

It's nice to be debating purely football matters though. At least I have something to be disappointed about.

I have to admit I would prefer a manager with some experience of Divisions 2 & 3, but I also have to admit to the irony of holding this opinion given my username.  Sometimes you do need to take a chance, and sometimes the chance works out.

I mentioned MM's name to my wife, who hails from the west of Scotland, and she recognised it straight away.

PS  I suppose there would also be the added bonus we could keep the orange decor in manager's office.  Just think of the cost savings.

I prefer my thread, beceause I think that the mis-spelling adds character to it!

And I also paid my thread the respect of posting the above there first. and just copied and pasted it to this oh-so boringly orthodox thread.
