Before we start slating anyone, all I will say is Aidy Boothroyd (sp) at Watford was unknown prior to his appointment.  Maybe its not teh worst idea?!

I agree, we should appoint Aidy Boothroyd.

I don't know whether he would be a good appointment or not, time would tell.

Unlike a lot of you, I don't have a wealth of experience in choosing managers.................

Cheesy Post of the day. Although I do worry that this is Sturrock's final leaving gift to us. Given his continued endorsement of the old board as a great bunch of blokes doing a fine job, and Bobby Williamson at muff, I'd say his track record in recommendations isn't perhaps as strong as it might be

I don't think anyone knows whether he would be good or not.
But there is clearly a general sense of disappointment at the apparent quality of the candidate.
We alll hoped for so much more.

quality of candidate? the guy has played over 50 times for scotland. he managed a very poor motherwell team whose only decent 3 or 4 players were out most of the season with varying injuries. he also took over from terry"cunt chops" butcher. any manager taking over from that cunt is going to have an uphill struggle. for christs sake you have to give the bloke a chance. and this thread is only based on rumour anyway!

Yes, but his name isn't Martin Ling or Luc Nijholt :x  :x  :x

If we appointed either of those two they would absolutely definitely be successful  :x  :x  :x

I know the exact details of what he and the other candidates have been offered and he's the cheap option :x  :x  :x

And so on and so forth and various other assorted bollocks.

I really can not believe the negative Fitton postings on all the forums, this is a rumour and even if it does turn out to be true then it is better to have a club with a so say shit manager than no club at all. I am pretty sure Preston fans were not to happy when Moyes was made manager he has now gone on to be one of the best in the Prem League.
If Malpas does get the job then this will be used as the next excuse for all the stay aways.

Yes Malpas is not as experienced as we have been led to believe in Mr Fittons interviews with the press.

Yes Malpas has not managed anyone who have won anything.

Yes Malpas "may be" the cheap option compared to other experienced managers.

Yes Malpas has obviously been recommended by Old Luggy.

But

If he gets the job he will have my full backing until proved he doesnt deserve it, I will give him a chance as Mr Hertha says....I also dont have the experience in choosing managers that so many of the Town fans obviously think they have, I will respect Mr Fittons choice whoever he decides to appoint as without him we would not have a club to support anyway.

But inexperienced or low experienced managers have always been shit in the past:

Lou Macari
Ossie Ardiles
Glenn Hoddle
Dennis Wise

We're fucking doomed if it's this Malpas bloke  Sad
