I was shit at all sports. I still am.

I resent being made to play sports at school. I was a weak kid who was humiliated once a week because of adults making me do stuff I couldn't do, I fucking hated it. I hated them. If I could, I would go back and tell them what a bunch of cunts they are. Especially one particular cunt of a teacher (I forget his name) who would laugh at me for being so bad. I'm not so weak now, sunshine.

There's no way I will force my kids into sports or anything else if they don't want to. Let them do what they're good at instead.

To quote lyrics from the late great Vivian Stanshall....

Let's go back to your childhood

The odd boy lay down by the football field
Took out a slim volume of Mallarme.
The centre-forward called him an imbecile.
It's an odd boy who doesn't like sport.

Sport, Sport, masculine sport.
Equips a young man for society.
Yes, sport turns out a jolly good sort.
It's an odd boy who doesn't like sport.

Dear Mr. Poxham, would you kindly excuse Steven from
Games today? He has had a nasty cold over the weekend and
Still has headaches and feels a bit snotty. I don't feel
He should be outside with the rougher type of boy, as he
Is a little delicate. Hoping you will understand, yours
Sincerely, Nellie Maynard, Mrs.

Give him a nice, cold shower.

How do you feel about Minecraft/YouTube gaming videos?
We stopped our eldest watching YouTube videos a long time ago. It would start of with something innocent and then a few "suggestion" clicks and he's watching kids fighting. (yes its play fighting but he was non the wiser at that point)

We've started letting him play on my PlayStation for short periods of time at the weekend and i can see how its helped with his problem solving skills. Even the Lego games, if i'm in the room and he's stuck he wont even try, he'll ask me to do it, but if i leave the room, he's damn good at figuring stuff out for himself.

I downloaded a free demo of Minecraft as he wanted to try it, but fuck me, i have no idea whats you've got to do in that game.

In terms of games, we monitor very closely whats he plays and absolutely no online/multiplayer games.

Part of me hopes any children I may have don't like football. Life without the stress of being a Swindon fan must be nice!

Also football brings out the worst in people.

YouTube is very closely monitored in our house, too much dodgy weird stuff on there.

I am torn on my own son.  This weekend he asked to watch the Georgia Bulldogs vs Notre Dame, and followed through by watching the entire game with me!  He showed very little interest in sport in the UK, being quite small for his age, but he has watched a few Atlanta Utd games in the flesh, which could still go either way because I am not sure if it is the game he is interested in or the array of food and rink on offer.  I haven't been helped by the fact his only live Swindon game was the 0-1 defeat against Exeter last season at the CG (several weeks after watching Atlanta Utd with a 70k crowd).

On one hand, it's all very American, on the other, he's started popping in to watch snippets of the Swindon games on iFollow on a Saturday morning and asking the score.

Torn on whether to encourage this behaviour.

I like honey and I like crumpets, but that just sounds so wrong.

Crumpets are for butter. Lots of butter.

I also enjoy a buttered or Marmited crumpet. The latter with a poached egg on, sometimes. Sometimes a peanut butter crumpet. But the sponginess of them soaks up honey well.
