didn't work very well in 2010/11
You need a balance though obviously, last season the lack of experience was evident when plan A wasn't working and especially away from home. This season without the spark of Ranger, Pritchard and to a lesser extent Mason there is a little to be worried about. Our defence only picked up when Troy & Stephens partnered up and before that we were in freefall. Let's not forget with J Mac gone as well that's 3 of our back 4 gone. So we've lost a lot of goals and 75% of our back line which I am a little concerned about to be honest.

What was our plan B in 2010/11 with all our experienced players then? I think that was the point.
I'm a little concerned too but think we have enough to start the season and hope to bring in a couple more (Stephens?!) in the next couple of weeks. We'll miss Pritch a lot more than people were giving him credit for last season that's for sure. Don't think we'll overly miss Nile or Mason mind as they didn't play all that much anyway.

There is a long way to go, clearly, in terms of recruitment. The only position that we have viable back up in is full/wing back (Byrne and Barthram), and centre mid (Gladwin and Rodgers). Barker has to show us something he hasn't until now to show he's going to add anything. One of the current back three will drop out when Stephens comes in. Pah.... Let's just see what happens eh. The days of having a forward line with the option of Connell, Benson, Magera, Kerrouche, Williams and Collins would appear to be behind us!

It is a bit of one extreme to the other. 6 strikers at any level was bloody ridiculous though. You missed Miles too.

Interesting that Sam the scribe has recently started following a young Notts County striker - who today tweeted "Finally all sorted! Looking forward to this season and progressing!" and a young young Liverpool striker who seems to be a mate of Brad Smith's

If true, that would seem a little odd. Never heard of him though.

Dan seaborne released by Coventry. Think we have been linked in previous years. Not sure what is happening with his career but a decent player in there somewhere. Still only 27, experienced cb. Worth a look for league 1
