They are leading the race to sign Doyle according to the Bradford forum.

One of the few sides down in this league that could afford him TBH.

I know its a year old but this goes into some details about them.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jul/20/gary-neville-and-salford-city-accused-of-trying-to-steal-football-league-place

I see they had a new injection of £2m sponsorship signed this week, all going straight on the 1st team

Interestingly they were beaten 3-1 at home by Woking on Friday.....can you imagine our fanbase if that happened to us after spending like they have!

I can never understand why clubs hold onto players when pre-season is under way and surely it makes more sense all around for the player/s to move onto their new clubs at the end of the season as their never going to be committed if they know they're going to be moving on plus it makes more sense to join their new club asap

This is the week that some of the attacking pieces need to fall into place, so that at least they can have some preseason with us and we can start the season properly. Hopefully next Sat for the Coventry game most of these pieces have fallen into place.

Hylton - We don't have the wages without clearing out Toums/McG. But given Wellens says he still wants 4/5 players i assume we probably have the money but it would compromise all the other signings and we don't want to do that.

Loan Forward from premiership - sort of gone quiet but was either 95 or 100% done. While the Hylton thing rumbles on we need another anyway so hopefully this gets done.

Winger/Number 10 - Bennett doing well for Rovers, so assume we will take Isgrove, seems only down to his fitness.

D'ath - Wait and see if something gets agreed. Wellens originally said he maybe wanted another wide player on top of the winger/number10, but i assume he's swapped that for a box to box player, perhaps this goes with Isgrove being more wide than 10.

DM - need that player that can win the ball back.

GK maybe?

Surely if finances are tight a decent goalscorer over another goalkeeper everytime especially as we have Henry and you could always get an emergency keeper in if need be

I just want it all sorted now.

It’s approaching tedious.

How many other clubs have completed their transfer dealings, it's par for the course. I'll just wait until deadline day if needs be, I'm not fussed how quick it's sorted worth waiting if it means we get the players we want on the best terms.

Indeed. If anything, we seem to have been remarkably well organised this summer, got a lot of our business done comparatively early so the bulk of the squad can start to settle, decent amount of time to look at a few trialists, still room/time to get a few more in.

Agreed
With the Premier League and Championship transfer inward deadlines being 3rd August there will be some movement on loans from those clubs on or just after that deadline.
For example if Carroll is coming for the season as the defensive midfield signing that could be sorted around that point.

Swindon also interested in a loan move for Wigan’s Callum Lang, however it seems the young forward is wanted by a whole host of L2 clubs #STFC

Did well for Oldham last season.

Callum Lang was linked last Summer when Brown was in charge.

Callum Lang seems to be the smart money and being mentioned a lot. 10 in 30 for Morecambe last year.

5'11" too....

Decent signing, not a target man but definately a goal scorer style, would be a great signing at L2 level.

Everton were linked last year with him.

Bradford, Salford, Oldham and Mansfield all linked as well as teams from L1.

Salford are linked to most everybody - the latest being Kyle Vassell from Rovrum. They won’t sign them all!

David Wheater didn’t sign for them in the end.

Wheater is still at Bolton...so is without a contract basically. He hasn't made his mind up on a move yet so they could still sign him. He turned down Kilmarnock as he didn't fancy a move that far away.

Salford are going to be like us under PdC, linked with every lower league player that is even half decent because they pay the wages they will want.

I'm sure he'll do well but I'm still not overly concerned about David Wheater being in L2. Whoever that's with.
