I think almost every club uses the loan system to the maximum. We’re no different.
True, its a budget method to see a team through another season. Backfires if you get a gem but they then bugger off, almost a shop window for clubs higher up the league to watch.

That’s exactly how it works for the giver and the receiver. It’s why the Wolf will be an Ipswich regular next season, I think.

Beckford now on Carlisle’s radar, apparently. Their recruitment for the coming season is to rely on loan players for their forward positions.

Reg would have a fit!

The last 2 seasons, Carlisle have looked in a bad way pre-season, but still done OK. Maybe they've just been lucky and this will be the year chicken's come home to roost.

July 16th looks like when we will see the majority of our squad due to two fixtures on one day; so a busy next two weeks I think for RW and the team. I think we will be signing someone/announcing on the 3rd,\hopefully someone to get excited about and show intent.

Based on what? A gut feeling?

It would be nice to see one or two key positions addressed in the next week or so that's for sure. Not essential though, if RW can get the right players in before the end of June then we'll be doing well.

You'd think there'd be a few trialists as well.

Looking forward to the annual discussions about how some non-league players come good and how having a look won't do any harm.

Oh wait, no, that's sarcasm.

I'm also really really really looking forward to the inevitable *better get your boots ready* jokes when we have not signed a 25 goal striker by the end of the day on Monday.

I’d imagine we’d have a couple signed and sealed, ready to be announced next week. Any decent out of contract players will have a few clubs to choose from and will take their time.

Loans are inevitably late in the day.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/transfers

This is the list of transfers done for May - Only 54 in total (2 are in women's football) which is a very small % of the total transfers that will be done before the season starts.

I expect us to get moving within a week or so. Its dull, but we just have to be a bit patient.

By the comments made by Wellens in the adver last week all our signings (just like every other season unde LP) ,will be late in the day......

One thing we don’t want to do is sign Kyle as soon as possible, because then we would have to be paying him through the summer – that’s not a position we can afford to be in.

The season isn't officilly over until Saturdays Champions League Final yet some fans still are pissed off that we haven't signed anyone yet.

I love the way that Power is already the enemy for not letting Wellens sign anyone and that many already seem to know that we won't sign anyone until the last week of pre season, it must be great to be a mind reader.

But nobody really seems pissed off on here that we haven't signed anyone yet?

it'll come and I'm sure I'll be a culprit.
