I when I went away to do higher education, the nice middle class girl I shacked up with, ate mayonnaise, I didn't know what it was, having only ever had salad cream coming from Swindon.
It wasn't even Heinz, but something called Hellmans and very nice too.
I tried to convince her of the delicacy of sandwich spread, but to no avail.
Mayonnaise for the few, not the many, who would have thought it?

Times change, now I get the proper French tackle.... ... might as well before Brexit makes it the preserve of the very rich again.

I wonder what Rollin Menayese thinks about it all? Hope he doesn't put all his eggs into one basket...

Custard rather not put that on my lettuce. However, it does call into question the whole issue of larder v pantry. Being working class, I was brought up with it being larder, whereas te middle classes had a pantry.

You may not have noticed, but UK is and always has been a class based society. Whether that is desirable and if so how rigid should it be is still a key question. However, this is the TEF, I'm still trying to come to terms with PaulD only having a cupboard. I suppose in an expensively fitted kitchen

We keep our condiments in cupboards also. Living in a small flat in London means we have no space for pantries or the like!

However, this is the TEF, I'm still trying to come to terms with PaulD only having a cupboard. I suppose in an expensively fitted kitchen tbf, there were several cupboards. And some stuff spilled over into the utility room, which I guess may at one time have been a pantry? Although I think it was always a washing/drying room of some description. I dunno, wasn't something I gave much thought to as a kid tbh.

Well pissed off. Got A stone chip in my windscreen on way home from A lorry driving the opposite direction.
£25 to repair, £75 to replace. Coming out Sunday.
