Just go along with them. Last week I had a call and told them that I had indeed had an accident. They asked me what happened and I told them a story about how I end up in an old lady's goldfish pond after swerving to miss a man dressed as Santa who was giving a piggy back to a one legged man. Thankfully it ended ok as the lady had just baked a cake and made us all a cup of tea. They hung up at this point.

I know people get them all the time, accept I had almost zero, then within a few days of my crash I had them multiple times a day on both my mobile (never had a single accident call) and my landline.
It was relentless for the first month or so. Now, it's almost as before, just an occasional fishing expedition.

I've had a few, I normally play along for a bit, then tell them about the head injury I sustained in the accident.
After a while I conclude that it must have been a head injury because I have no recollection of any fucking accident

When I worked in Manchester we were in serviced offices and our offices were next door to one of the companies that did the cold calling. It was entirely populated by young Manc lasses who did fuck all all day then at 4pm would start calling people (as the walls were very thin and they very gobby we could hear all the bollocks they spouted), it appears to be completely random. We complained as they were so bloody noisy, but after about 3 months they did a moonlight flit and fucked off without paying the rent!

A guy at work had a minor accident recently, no fault, but obviously had to notify insurance company.
....the amount of calls he got from the legals acting on behalf of the insurance company "are you sure you aren't injured"...."are you sure you don't want to make a claim"...
wonder why premiums are going up...

Exactly. The difference pre and post accident, was not even slight. Pre-accident was like the spam you get in your gmail inbox, post-accident was like it was 1998 and your mates had signed your hotmail account to a few "free porn" email subscription services for a laugh.

You try the USA - I went onto a "comparison" site for mortgages as I need to look at potential costs for later in the year. The day after I have been hit with 10+ calls a day, most of them from just two companies, who wish to discuss my house purchase with me. One in particular has even caught on to me rejecting the call and rings back straight away, presumably knowing I am actually alive. It's been over two weeks, no let-up yet.

Its the same over here with health insurance, I had a quick look on one of the comparison sites, more out of interest and to see what it will cost roughly when we need it in the future, fucking up and didn't tick the no phone calls box and got pursued by various providers for months!

my friends are having a baby, and they're having a gender reveal party.
I like my friends, and I'm happy they're having children, but I'm struggling to find much enthusiasm for going to a party specifically to watch them pop a baloon.

Apparently so. I hope it's a trend that dies out very quickly
