Thought Prince looked outstanding. With all our attackers now do we think Tabor might get loaned out? I think getting game time at NL level would do him the world of good.

It didn't feel like Wright or Ripley had the confidence to pass to Mabete in the 1st half, but he grew into the game 2nd half. He definitely seems like someone who we could develop, but also he will be sent off at least twice this year.

I cant see Tabor being loaned out, surely it is for him to continue training at a pro level and get introduced from the bench and maybe get a start in the not interested cup games and prove himself and force his way into the managers thoughts for a start in the league, but it will take him time to adapt from a low non league to L2, there cant be any pressure on him.

Tabor was unlucky last night as a beautiful ball (by Mcgregor i think) was put on his head at the back post, but the defender just got a nick ahead of him and Tabor ended up heading wide.

He could have 2 goals by now after his miscue of a (difficult) chance at Walsall.

What I noticed on last nights miss was the excellent way he positioned himself away from the defender just before the cross came in. There is something there, I'm sure of it.

Its a tricky one, I s'pose its a case of those who see him day in day out deciding whether signing him then after a couple of games shipping him out will bugger up his confidence vs whether getting some NL game time and goals will actually boost him....

Not watched the game but just watched the highlights.

As an aside, that Reuben Colwill looked some creator as well as finisher.

Can't wait to see Princewill live for myself.  Ice in his veins seemed to give him that tad extra time.

Cardiff were winning some dangerous first headers from corners which we rarely seem to do.

The downside of too many forwards is they can’t all play. Holloway needs to get Tabor on the pitch earlier so that he can adjust to the pace of the game and see if he can start scoring. Give him until January then possibly loan him out if he’s not progressing.

I would have got smith off earlier and rested him as he will burn out if he plays every game. 1st half we didn’t press at all so never won the ball to do anything. Second half totally different and gave them lot less time to pass it about. With Ollie refusal to remove smith and princewell a certain start I am starting to wonder if others will get much game time up front. Everyone was raving about ameen pre season but he’s hardly been on the pitch.

I do worry all this investment in forwards will be great for scoring goals but we are also needing investment at the back to stop shipping goals back there!!!

It’s early days but on first showing I would have given Minturn a go over Mabete.

Spot on. I actually meant to mention that in my original post, it was excellent positioning and he was really unlucky.

As Redrag said, Ruben Colwill looks some player, not just his ridiculous free kick but his overall game was outstanding.

Improved second half.

Mabete worries me though. I just don't get a good feeling.

Hopefully I am wrong.

Know what you mean.

But then - with some justification - so did the late, great Jon Gittens worry me.  It never stopped him becoming a cult hero.

Was thinking the same thing, although Gitto had the pace to recover more often than not

Funny how we all see it differently. I thought Mabete slotted in perfectly well. He’s clearly not a ball playing centre back, but I thought he was fine last night - and with no senior football under his belt, has potential to improve. Wilson-Brown is far more comfortable with ball at feet, and seems more mobile - so I am sure will be an important player for us this season, but Mabete will have a role too.
