Yeah definitely two very different halves. We could barely string a couple of passes together first half.

Worst first half ever, absolutely abysmal.  Angry

Second half, Holloway would probably say "we won it".

Debut goal for Prince.
Wardy kept a clean sheet.

Holloway:
- Glad for the second half!
- If I was a boxer, I wouldnt have been punched so many times. Massive credit to them
- We couldnt live with it
- It wasnt a game for Bodin. He's not a chaser
- Never played against a team that reacted so well.
- They played 2 out wide nad 5 up front
- The crowd lifted us when we scored
- At half time you would have bet on us losing 4,5 ,6 to nil
- But we wont the second half
- Put players more suited to the way the game was going
- Seemed to work.
- Clarke really suited the game. Which gave us some impetus
- Clarke driving forward suited the game more than passing back to Ripley and hoofing it
- Felt we were getting better as time went on
- Fantastic freekick for them
- Thought the other was offside
- Got booked as not allowed to shout to the ref. Couldnt ask him questions as mics were off
- Delighted the way that Princewill and Tabor played
- With Ripley injured he couldnt bring Butterworth on
- Prince showed his skillset. He was disappointed missing one in the first half
- Could see how sharp and quick he is. He cramped at the end
- The younger players arent used to this effort. They all cramped. But they will get used to it
- That was a hell of a learning curve for us
- Would like to play them again one day
- They were terrific first half and we couldnt get near them
- At half time, we calmed the players down and helped them to cope
- We have to learn lots of bits and peice to get ther
- McGregor: Too many went over his head. He would normally win headers. But they were so wide. You dont expect that from a team just relegated.
- Need to work togetherm, get tighter and press people further up
- Ripley: Felt something in his thigh
- Ameen: He's had minutes. Needed minutes for others. Its the power of the squad

Safe to say that we and the team have actually learned quite a lot tonight and the difference in standards if we want to make strides.

Is there a longer winless run in the League Cup than ours?
Both currently& of all time?

Well, we were better second half. Not massively, but at least the subs looked like they wanted to have a go. Got to question the selection, the narrow formation, the manager who isn't learning from his mistakes among other things.

Unfortunately, we aren't going to do anything this season if:

a) we continue to use launching it to Smith as our primary game plan.
b) we only turn up and play for one half.

Prince was the only real positive. He looks a player. But he will struggle if we continue to do the two things above.

Ironic that said manager bought him in?

Nothing would have kept that free kick out. No matter how badly you may think we played. That FK separated us tonight.

Just looked at current 'runs'
Chesterfield are on 13 consecutive 1st round defeats.
As they were out of the EFL for a while their last win was in 2006.
Other than that Rovers are closest to us on 7.

A faulty first half selection cost us. No doubt. That's on the manager.

Still a few games off of an official slow start to the season verdict.

Postives, Prince & also McGregor making it through 90 mins.

Nice ground. Safe standing is a good thing.
Away support deserving of much better things.

First time I've seen us this season and after the first half nearly gave up. As has been said by many others, our sole tactic was lump to Smith and it was totally ineffective. Princewill was very unlucky with his mazy but 2-0 at HT probably about right. Glatzel at LWB clearly an area Cardiff targeted as he struggled, not surprisingly.

Holloway's tombola machine came out in the second half and we were much better, the team press going up a few gears and at times we had Cardiff on the back foot. Superb goal by Princewill, he looks a terrific raw talent who has dribbling ability in spades. Tabor was close to nicking an equaliser, the ball deflected a smidge in front of him and he put it wide.

Overall, not exactly a surprise we lost. Cardiff are a very good league 1 side and I felt they probably had gears to go through. Oldham away and then Shrewsbury at home represents good opportunities to get more league points on board, hopefully with more defensive options, if we can move Delaney on.
