Yes as Nemo says we can loan out to non league, all deals for players currently under contract have to be done by 11pm tonight but we can still sign players out of contract (today) right up till the 1st March IIRC.

I expect a couple of loans to come in, 1 probably being a keeper plaus AN Other like the Barnsley lad and maybe one surprise addition, I expect no outgoings too.

But that can change by the minute if a late and good offer come in (like DJ to Charlton previously).

That was probably the worst deadline day we've ever had, wasn't it? DJ sold, Matt Smith recalled when we were already in the shite. And the Freeman weirdness.

Still, we brought in Christopher Missilou so swings and roundabouts.

If we don't get a keeper in, that is a very poor window yet probably the best January window under this mob. Shows how low the bar is.

Wakeling was sold on the team bus so nothing would surprise me with this lot.

The fact we are now almost certainly safe (barring an absolute disaster) makes it more likely we could sell somebody at the last minute.

Maybe Ollie/Clem think that now we are safe then why do we need to add players to the squad at the extra wage cost? maybe they will just go with what we have until the end of the season now?

We can all see goalkeeper is a very much needed position but in recent games, although errors have been made by both keepers, these errors are no longer costing us points as we are outscoring the opposition more regularly.

Just a suggestion.

For the most part I’m hoping to see no real movement out.

Wouldn’t be against Grant Hall being terminated. I assume he’s on a decent wage, hasn’t delivered & doesn’t get in our first XI (or even match day XVIII) it might free up some wages but obviously he’d want paying off - so massively unlikely.

Ideally I’d still like to see Barden go back & another older experienced keeper (not called Lewis Ward) come in either on loan or permanent.

*if* we trusted the board to get it right in the summer, it would be perfectly reasonable to save our money for then, and possibly even to make a few sales in January when clubs are desperate.

But we don't.

Depends whether you can make a signing now to get ahead of the summer. We all know this is a horrendous window for business so I agree now that we’re moving away from the drop zone, I can see the argument to save money for the summer but if we’re planning ahead and know somewhat what we want to look like next season and something appears now that fits that then go for it.

Of course though that is predicated on it being a normal club who’s looked further than the next 2 days, don’t have a manager who’s out of contract at the end of the season and have long term planning in place. Insert John McGreal “It’s Swindon Town”.

If it's loans we'd be bringing in you 100% have a point.

However, if it's permanents you can argue the period between now and May is perfect to get players up to speed to be ready for next season. If you can get a head start on summer recruitment by bringing somebody in today then surely it's a no brainer.

Notts County have signed a Guinean striker named Mai Traore from Norway.

That's the kind of random signing you don't see enough of in the lower leagues in the post-Brexit world.

Absolutely they are rarer now, has all the hallmarks of another Onionbhaji or Danny N'Guessen type signing for me. Or before them Bernard Tchoutang or Eugène Dadi both who nearly signed for us in the early 2000s.
