Apparently we are sailing close to or right at the SCMP/FFP limits already with the current squad.
Which is apparently 50% of Turnover, so that should be able to point to what the Budget is. Whether that includes coaching staff or not I've no idea

Suspect the crowd figures have forced a re-evaluation
100% this is the reason I have heard given.

The rules bring equity investment, where owners buy shares in a club, into line with the EFL's Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) - part of Financial Fair Play regulations to help control clubs' financial losses.
Under the current SCMP rules, League One sides can spend 60% of turnover on wages and transfer fees and League Two sides 50%, but 100% of any equity investment.
Another change to the rules means that only 60%, in League One, and 50%, in League Two, of extra football income - such as prize money, cup earnings or transfer fees received - will be able to spent on player-related expenditure, whereas previously all of this money was able to be spent on the squad.
It means that should an owner of a League One side invest £100m in their club they could only spend just over £60m on players.
Owners can still spend an unlimited amount of money in non-player related costs such as infrastructure improvements or community projects.
It comes as more and more new owners have taken over EFL sides - most notably in League One with the high-profile takeovers of Birmingham City and Wrexham.
Blues spent a reported League One record fee of £15m on Fulham's Jay Stansfield in the summer as their ownership group, which includes NFL legend Tom Brady, brought in 13 new players including Lyndon Dykes, Alfie May, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tomoki Iwata.
Wrexham, with their Hollywood partnership of owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, have also invested millions to take the club from the National League to League One in consecutive seasons. Many loopholes that Wrexham, FGR etc got around with "equity investments".

Franchise sign Nathan Thompson last week, he gets injured Tuesday and they’ve already agreed a deal for a new CB. Must be nice.
Granted this new CB could have already been on their list anyway.

Don't tempt fate. Lessens at most.

Many loopholes that Wrexham, FGR etc got around with "equity investments".
But that involves financial input that the owners are happy to write off. Never gonna happen here, he's already made it clear that the loans will stay as just that, despite saying at least twice that he'd convert them into shares (the 'loophole' way of funding the club, mentioned above)

Wigan Athletic have signed Crawley Town, and former Swindon Town, midfielder Ronan Darcy for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

I always liked Darcy, but he tended to split the fanbase. Was he a Sandro signing?

I thought he was weak with no end product but he proved me wrong at Crawley, and I've come to terms with it.

If we listed players who've left Swindon and instantly become better players, we'd be here a long time. It's almost like we're doing something wrong!

Yes, he was signed during Sandro’s tenure. I rate him - the problem was he was a small tidy attack minded midfielder who never had the luxury of having a steely ball winning midfielder with him to do the dirty work. The story of our midfield between prime Grant & Ofoborh Best hair since Miglioranzi too…

Me too. Players get better/suit a system or a team better. Doesn't mean he wasn't that when he was here.
