I wouldn’t blame Ripley for either goal just shit defending. Also couldn’t Smith had done better when he shot straight at the goalie.

Yup. Not easy as he was under pressure but wanted to use his right foot for a left for shot

Probably not his strength and more of a position Tabor would thrive in if given the opportunity.

He did, and he's best judge.

To me it looked 50/50 if he's getting there and he has a split second to decide. So maybe he got it wrong but I don't think it was a clanger.

In any case we were dead and buried regardless.

Based on?

I've not watched enough of Tabor to know where he is strong and isn't.

Smith held his man off pretty well

His speed and eye for a goal although not proven at league level.

I look at Wellens promotion winning side along with Plymouth, Exeter & Crewe and it was head and shoulders above what we’ve got now and proves how poor the quality is in league 2

Wellens took the approach to spend the money on 14-15 players and concentrate the quality. Which largely worked, though we did have a number of short term emergency CB's at one point.

Holloway has gone with the 2 players for every position and to stack and rack his forwards. Lower individual quality but more depth and options.

Wellens approach was risky but worked.

Fair points you make but I was also comparing the standard of league 2 back then to now.

You have to remember he came for a league that is lower than Bassett. The step up in quality is inane. I'm all for loaning him out to a NLS side to see if he can adapt at that level.

Just because you have an eye for goal doesn't mean you can make the jump. Macaulay Langstaff looked incredible at NL and L2 level. Struggled in the Championship now though. There are levels for a reason. The best thing for Tabor right now is to go and get game time. He's on a three year deal so i don't see the harm. He also needs to bulk up a bit. A bit too skinny.

You’re correct no guarantees that he will make the step up just highlighting the kind or opportunity he would relish. Also Holloway stated when he signed “he’s a natural goal scorer and isn’t worried about the level he’s come from and is confident he can do it in league 2” He just needs to be given his chance coming off the bench regularly in the second half otherwise like you say he would be better off being loaned out.

I suspect the potential for chances for all our strikers will change wuite considerably if Smith is out for a while as assume we will move away from the get it forward and hope Smith can hold it up/knock it down approach we have adopted to date.

Watching the Oldham game, after all the fuss about Prince being recalled in January as he was so good at Cardiff, the impression I got more was that he would be recalled at his own request as we were just not remotely playing to his skills/positives by just lumping it all the time with some sort of vague hope of it sticking!

Prince is probably more suited to away games where he can use his pace on the counter attack.

On Tuesday in the home game, he had no energy, pace. ball control, or anything resembling being a threat.  I think it is a matter of not playing too much until he gets used to the physical effort, home or away.

Apparently Minturn got injured for Chippenham on Tuesday

Not that he was ever going to be recalled
