You would expect a young professional footballer to beat a man in his 60’s even if he was a pro many years ago.

"‘The Run’ is Holloway’s preferred fitness test, gleaned from his playing days under Gerry Francis, and involves what is essentially an extended shuttle run of 20 yards, 40 yards, 60 yards, 80 yards, 100 yards, 80 yards, 60 yards, 40 yards, and 20 yards one after the other."

The record was two minutes and 57 seconds per Joe's article.

I appreciate I just own a retired greyhound rather than training them but how the hell do you get them to turn round and go back again!
I had a 300m straight gallop, fenced. I’d start him/her at about 75m from the end, walk him back to 150m from the end and finish off with the full 300m. Obviously Mrs Audrey would be the designated ‘catcher’ at the end of the gallop.

So, if I’ve mathed correct - it’s about half a mile in 3:30…

That doesn't seem particularly fast - relative to elite levels of performance. a mile in 7mins...so about 9mph on a speed run as well... Personally speaking I hike a lot and have an average hiking pace that closes in on 4mph or a mile per 15mins. I've also done training hikes of 5miles for intensive testing where I've managed to regularly get under one hour {essentially 5mph}. I'm a shit runner though, but I could probably out hike several runners over marathon distance if I trained hard for competition purposes.

Back to elite performers a 7min mile seems more like semi-pro or intermediate level kind of performance and that should be pretty achievable by a young adult. Breaking ''Holloway's Run'' record, seems more like ''Coogan's Run'' tbh. None of them would handle a PdC beasting  Cheesy

NB: Congrats to Tabor on his contract though. IH seemingly worked quick to sign him after seeing the run data. Hefty clause in there in case of another Austin on our hands.

The turns will make it a lot harder though, straight line running is much faster as you slow to turn.

my understanding is that we were the first since he left Amersham...as I said perviously, I think Holloway knew that if let him leave without getting him signed, someone else would have snapped him up...

That makes sense and we could easily have been gazumped if we hadn’t acted quickly.

Thought he had a trial at Wycombe? Also played for Wolves U-21 in a trial game.

Obviously it might not work out but it’ll be fun finding out.

Starting to look reasonably well rounded for a whole is greater than the sum of its parts assault on season 2025-26.

Maybe 2 or 3 pieces of the jigsaw to go & not troubled any of the loan slots as yet.

Holloway is the glue that will hold it all together.
Quick dry, super strength & long lasting, well for 9 or 10 months at least.

Content with progress so far.

He said in the Lower League Look interview that his Wycombe trial was two years ago.

Scored a hat-trick against Wolves u21
