I ruptured mine in 1991.

A sad loss to STFC.

Gutted for Minturn - has a boat load of potential but 2 massive injuries within 9 months, in the last year of his contract (I think?)... probably the end of his time in a town shirt

It's definitely been mentioned in reports his deal is until 2027. Still I can't see how he can come back from basically 2 years of no football.

I did mine in circa 1997. Just as well I was too shit to be a professional football as I also snapped both of my achilles (at different times)

Initially it was identified as a sprain but it kept 'clicking' when I would play football. Eventually the correct diagnosis was provided.

I tore my ACL, PCL & MCL all at the same time circa '97. Had to be helped to walk home, which was a mile, and then hobbled around on it for a week before my parents finally believed I was genuinely hurt. Then the bloody treatment Derriford Hospital came up with was tubi-grip on the knee and crutches for the summer.

Thankfully I was dog shit at football so it didn't make a difference.

It did seem in those days that a couple of weeks in plaster was the solution.  It led to a weakness that lasted and probably contributed to the fucked knee that Ive just had fixed.

Seriously its a horrible injury so good luck to Harrison.  Its no longer a career ender with the right treat ment but thats another season gone for him.

Not that he’s in the same class but didn’t Bryan Robson miss that amount of time with two broken legs in succession.

He’s young enough to come back, just not sure he’s good enough to do so at a professional level.

Jeez those must have been horrendous breaks. I don't really remember Robson as a player as he was before my time but I do know he had an iron will.

I guess that's ultimately what it'll come down to. How mentally resilient is Minturn? Fingers crossed for him that he's got a bit of Smiths fortitude.

Just seen Ball and Munroe in my local shop (Wroughton). Ball reckons he is out for two months. Wearing a knee brace.

Robson had a tendency to pop his shoulder too. Must have been an amazing athlete to come through that and all the 80s booze!

I met Robson before a game in the players lounge at Old Trafford in 1987 - in my formative years my second team was Man Utd, before they were good, because everyone else at school seemed to like Liverpool.  He signed a poster for me, Norman Whiteside jokingly refused to sign my autograph book because I didn't bring a poster of him.  Talked a fair bit to Peter Davenport because he had family or friends that lived in Toothill.

Those were the days.

Peter Davenport, there's a player I've not thought of in 30 odd years!

Reminds me of the time the youth football club I played for went up to villa and did a training session and watched a game. Saw Derek Mountfield in the car park after, you could see he knew we recognised him. He looked ready to stop, talk, do autograph and we walked straight past him. I hope he wasn't too crushed.

Loan round up:

Sonny Hart is an unused sub (5th game in a row) as Greenock Morton draw 2-2 against Ayr United.

Redman Evans helps Alvechurch to a 2-1 win away at Barwell.

No Dylan Mitchell in the Weston-Super-Mare squad for the 2nd game running.

Supermarine beat Willand Rovers 3-0. George Alston named on the bench while Lucas Myers and Dani Gonzalez aren’t in the squad.
